Another UK company named a finalist in this year’s Longitude Prize on Dementia is Supersense Technologies. The company's at-home monitoring-box is designed to protect privacy. The ‘sensor’ box and automated messaging system scans rooms to help remotely inform family members of the loved one’s wellbeing via Whatsapp or text message. This provides reassurance without using cameras or wearables, connecting caregivers without infringing on privacy. #innovation #dementia #productdesign #assistivetech

Investment for purpose-led British product businesses.
About us
The British Design Fund is an early stage investment fund that specifically invests in, and provides support for purpose-led, UK product design and manufacturing companies. We leverage the UK’s position as the largest design industry in Europe in order to invest in innovative early-stage product design-based businesses. We seek to work with extraordinary entrepreneurs and their teams to support the best cultures, work ethics, and help create thriving stand-out companies. We have the expertise and experience to identify and help build valuable, innovative, and lasting businesses. The British Design Fund is driven by a team with strong retail product experience, fuelled by unique and ongoing access to deal flow and driving results though relevant post investment support. We have a sophisticated pre-investment selection process which helps identify those companies, that with our funding and support, have the potential to be huge hits. Each company will present significant global brand expansion opportunities, and be able to validate the demand for their product in the market before substantial funding is committed. We will only invest in companies that have protection from competition and new entrants in the form of registered IP, and have SEIS or EIS advance assurance.

A fantastic achievement by our investee Holdson and co-founder Neil, who have just presented on an international stage and will be spending the next 3 days showcasing their innovation product to potential customers, partners and investors.
Well that was a unique experience. Pitching in the #Slingshot2024 TOP 50 startup competition in #Singapore. Trying to compress a million things that you’d like to say into only 3 minutes is a huge challenge but I hope that I have done Holdson proud and I am certainly taking tbe opportunity to represent the team as best I can on the international stage. The completion is certainly fierce and there are a lot of fantastic businesses here that are working to solve lots of industry and environmental challenges so just to be selected to be part of the top 0.9% so global startups is a tremendous honour. I’ll be spending the next 3 days meeting potential clients, partners and investors and showcasing the best of #UK #Innovation as I do so. Many thanks for the support to all involved and with open arms we look forward to more collaborations, cooperations and innovations.

The Longitude Prize on Dementia calls on innovators around the world to develop solutions that support people with dementia to remain independent for as long as possible. One of this year's finalists is CrossSense, developed by London-based Animorph Co-op. It combines wearable AR assistive technology and cognitive training to help individuals in the early-to-mid stages of dementia to live independently for longer. Smart glasses assign digital representations to elements in the physical environment, superimposing words and voice reminders to connect objects to their functions, and other important information. This enables individuals living with dementia to maintain context and carry out daily tasks with greater ease. https://lnkd.in/ejthhrA6 #dementia #innovation #productdesign #assistivetech
