Unfortunately I couldn't attend this years Composite UK Industry awards, but It was great to see Gestamp and the EMPHASIZING Project team on stage picking up a Composites UK award (innovation in Manufacture). Winning this award for innovation is a testament to the consortiums relentless pursuit of creativity and excellence. It reflects the consortiums commitment to pushing boundaries, challenging the status quo, and transforming bold ideas into impactful solutions. I know this recognition is not just an honour but a motivation for the whole consortium to continue on a journey of innovation, striving to make a meaningful difference in the industry. As the Project manager for the Gestamp element of this project I am immensely proud of our team's dedication and ingenuity, which have made this achievement possible, and we look forward to the possible exciting possibilities that lie ahead. #compositerecycling #innovation Innovate UK #innovate #collaborate #recycle #consortium #circulatriy #Gestamp Project Partners : Gestamp, Longworth - Sustainable Recycling Technology (Jen Hill FCIM), Ford Motor Company, Gen2plank Ltd, TWI, Brunel Composites Centre (BCC) and EMS-CHEMIE (Business Unit EMS-GRIVORY)

🏆 WINNER - Innovation in Composite Manufacturing 🏆 We're incredibly proud to have been recognised for manufacturing in amongst all of the noise we make about sustainability and circularity. First and foremost our objective was to create and manufacture a new advanced material for use across a wide range of industries, albeit from a 'waste' feedstock from wind, marine, sport & leisure and the glass industry. The ability to reclaim the material from these GRP waste streams was never in question, but to prove a market use case (or several as it turns out) for the resulting new materials has been a challenging, fun and ambitious journey for us all. To have our industry peers see value in this work and our new compound is very encouraging as we complete the project and enter the scale up and funding scene. Huge thanks to everyone at Composites UK - Trade Association for an excellent awards ceremony, and to our partners; Longworth - Sustainable Recycling Technology Gestamp Gen2plank Ltd EMS-CHEMIE (Business Unit EMS-GRIVORY) Ford Motor Company TWI Brunel University of London - Brunel Composites Centre (BCC) www.emphasizing.co.uk - watch this space for our project closing summary over the coming weeks. #composites #grp #netzero #cleanwind #waste Innovate UK UKRI - Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge (IDC) Department for Energy Security and Net Zero

[ PROJECT UPDATE ] The #EOLIAN website launches today! 🎯 This EU-funded project is aiming to develop a new generation of #wind turbine #blades manufactured using repairable and recyclable #vitrimer #composites. An embedded structural health monitoring #SHM system will enable fast detection and repair of damage. ✅ EOLIAN blades will offer improvements in #lifespan, #repair, and #reuse and #recycling, helping to advance #sustainability and #circularity in the wind industry. In EOLIAN project EU EuCIA joins partners Proplast, AEP Polymers, Brunel Composites Centre (BCC), Entelea, IRES, Norvento Enerxía, Politecnico di Milano, Tekniker, and Zorlu Energy Group. We lead the work package focused on communication, dissemination and exploitation and look forward to sharing more project news over the coming months. The #CoPropel project has reached its M30 milestone, marking six months until project completion. The M30 general meeting took place on October 22nd and 23rd, 2024, at the Bulgarian Ship Hydrodynamic Centre (BSHC) in Varna, Bulgaria, where we reviewed recent activities, reviewed and finalized the key project milestones. In the past six months, the consortium has successfully completed: - Manufacturing of a small-scale blade with Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) capabilities. - Open water and cavitation tunnel testing at the Bulgarian Ship Hydrodynamic Centre (BSHC) in Varna. - Critical Design Review (CDR) for the full-scale blade. - Design and production of prototype blades. In the next six months, the consortium is focused on: - Testing and validation of the blade prototype. - Manufacturing the full-scale blade. - Conducting a sea trial. During the visit, consortium members toured the BSHC’s cutting-edge facilities, including the towing tank, cavitation tunnel, and Maneuvering and Seakeeping Basin. The project #CoPropel is set to revolutionize the shipping industry with a composite marine propeller, offering benefits such as corrosion resistance, #lightweight structure, customizable material properties, and reduced underwater radiated noise. We extend our special thanks to BSHC, Varna, for their exceptional hospitality. The consortium eagerly anticipates this final phase.
