Employee spotlight with ICAS - The Professional Body of CAs 🌟 Our very own Kyle Ruparelia and Scott McLennan from our finance team sat down with ICAS to explain why recruiting ICAS students means building a pipeline of future leaders for the company. Scott said: “We’re bringing in keen, young talent with fresh ideas. We set a high bar for applicants, but the quality we’re rewarded with is excellent. These graduates are the future leaders of the business. By investing in them early, we’re building a valuable pipeline of talent.” Thomas Thow is the first trainee to join Cala since we introduced an ICAS scheme within our overall graduate programme. He said: “Exposure to different parts of the business has been invaluable. I’ve had the chance to work in both group and regional finance, and a big takeaway for me has been the contrast between the two. Group finance is more technical and aligns closely with the ICAS syllabus, while regional finance is much more commercially focused on the broader business strategy. I’m learning a lot on the accounting side, so being involved in meetings around that strategy is really interesting and helps me see how the two can work together.” Kyle believes that this industry-based training offers an attractive alternative to the traditional Big Four route he took: “I learnt a lot about auditing other businesses, but at Cala you learn how a business really operates. Our North of Scotland region once again sponsored this year’s The Press and Journal Charity Gala, which took place on Friday night. The event raised funds for two amazing local charities: Clan Cancer Support and Abbie's Sparkle Foundation, which both help people and their families who are navigating a cancer diagnosis. The charities were chosen by P&J readers from a shortlist selected by a panel of judges, including our Marketing Manager, Samantha Leckie. Our Regional Director, Fraser Carr, took to the stage at the beginning of the evening to highlight how important it is to Cala to support charities like these, why we’re proud to support the P&J’s Charity Gala and how the ethos of the P&J’s Community Fund closely mirrors our own. Our very own Community Pledge evolved from a community bursary into an all-encompassing initiative that incorporates not just charity donations, but volunteering our time, working closely with local schools, environmental programmes and much more. CALA LAUNCHES SOUTHERN DIVISION 🏡 We are delighted to announce the launch of a new business division, Cala Southern, as part of our growth strategy across the South of England 📈 Cala Southern will spearhead our westward expansion, enhancing Cala’s presence in Dorset, Hampshire and Southern Wiltshire, to meet strong demand for high-quality housing. The new division will also manage our existing live sites in these counties, including Winchester, Wimborne and Fordingbridge, previously overseen by Cala Thames. Cala Southern will be led by incoming managing director Rod Martin and in its first year will deliver 400 homes, with plans to increase this to over 500 homes annually by 2028. The Southern HQ will open in Winchester in March, supporting around 90 new direct roles so far, and hundreds more jobs through our subcontractor partners and the supply chain. 👷🏻♂️👷🏻♀️ Our CEO, Kevin Whitaker, commented: "Our strategy to expand Cala's presence in the South West of England has taken a significant step forward.
