🚨#SOSHousing: Save our Supported Housing 🚨 Supported housing in England is facing a crisis, but with the right government support, we can save it. A supported home is a lifeline for thousands who need help to live independently. Yet, after years of funding cuts, many services have been lost and more are at risk while demand rises. Last year, 1 in 3 providers closed schemes due to funding pressures and 60% may close in the future. Without intervention at the upcoming Spending Review, supported housing faces a worsening crisis – impacting the NHS, social care, homelessness services, and more. We urge the government to: - Increase funding for housing-related support to £1.6bn/year. - Commit to delivering more supported homes by 2040. - Ensure long-term housing and homelessness strategies include supported housing. Join us in saving supported housing. https://lnkd.in/eW-QziX2 #SaveOurSupportedHousing #SOSHousing

The Future of Older People’s Housing: How do we develop the housing needed? Many thanks to our speakers, chairs, and sponsor, Charity Bank, for an insightful and engaging webinar on addressing housing needs in an ageing society yesterday. Co-chaired by Campbell Tickell’s Liz Zacharias, and Abbeyfield Living Society’s, Abdul A Ravat, this webinar tackled key policy, planning, and funding challenges, offering solutions to meet the UK's diverse ageing population's needs. Key points: 1. Government commitment to long-term strategy: As highlighted by The Older Peoples Housing Task Force, we need a long-term housing strategy for an ageing population, promoting age-friendly, dementia-inclusive, faith, and culture-sensitive homes/communities, and integrating housing, health, and social care. Speakers highlighted the long-term consequences to economy and NHS if we fail to act on developing the scale of housing to reflect an ageing demographic, which is increasingly diverse. 2. Separate and sufficient capital and revenue funding required: Separate capital funding for older peoples housing is needed, with higher grant rates and rent certainty to tackle affordability and services from providers. 3. Increase housing supply: Prevent loss of properties from the sector, as highlighted in the APPG Inquiry, looking into: regeneration of outdated housing; facilitating stock transfers; and building accessible, age-friendly homes as a standard. The webinar demonstrated the urgent need for government intervention in older people’s housing and that all providers, including strategic partners, need to do more. A recording, short article, and briefing report for the Government will be produced soon.
