Non-profit Organizations

We work alongside women, girls and their communities to save lives, overcome poverty and achieve social justice.

About us

CARE International is one of the world’s largest aid agencies, fighting poverty and injustice in over 80 countries around the world, and helping 65 million people each year to find routes out of poverty. CARE also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives in the aftermath. We work with private sector companies to co-create opportunities for poor and marginalised people to have better access to goods, services and livelihoods – and on fairer terms. With more than 60 years’ practical and hands-on experience, our programmes tackle the deep-seated root causes of poverty, not just the consequences.

As COP29 takes place, CARE is calling for David Lammy, Ed Miliband and Anneliese Dodds to stand by the promises they have made on climate action for women. We want them to support women leaders. We want $1 trillion in global climate finance. And we want it to be new money, not raided from aid budgets. 🚨 2024 is set to breach the 1.5C global warming limit. It has now been reported that 2024 will be the warmest year on record, following a year of intense heatwaves and deadly storms. These high temperatures and extreme climates are mostly due to human-caused climate change. Those across the Global South who have contributed the least, are being impacted the most. This must be a wake-up call ahead of COP29 next week. Now more than ever governments heading to COP29 must hear this warning and take urgent action to limit any further warming. Thanks to your generosity, the DEC Middle East Humanitarian Appeal has raised over £25 million so far! Your donations are helping local humanitarian workers across Gaza, Lebanon and the wider region to support their communities at a time of devastating loss, destruction and suffering. Many of these aid workers have themselves have had to flee multiple times and are navigating the personal trauma of daily life in a conflict zone. And yet every day they are working long hours to support others in need. Your donations could help people like Nour and his colleagues support children and young people suffering intense stress and trauma on a daily basis in Gaza. And amazing people like Dr Amal who helps women deliver their babies safely even when they lose touch with their own families. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported this appeal to help DEC charities [including, ActionAid UK, CARE International UK, Islamic Relief UK, Oxfam and Save the Children UK] scale up their lifesaving work, and to Bilal Hasna, Maisie Richardson-Sellers and Shabaz Ali for helping us spread the word. If you haven’t donated already, please give what you can. Each one of us has the power to make a difference.

We have just launched our urgent winter appeal for your support. Around the world this winter, women who have fled violence and #conflict are facing freezing temperatures with no warm clothes or proper protection. Conflict and extreme weather, in places like #Ukraine, #Gaza and #Syria, have forced many to uproot their lives over and over again to search for safety. Often, it's belongings like blankets and warm clothes which are left behind. This Christmas, will you help wrap women and their families in CARE to help them through the winter? Your donation could provide essential items like warm clothes and blankets for families. Please click the link to donate today: https://lnkd.in/eVhKhQcT #Donate #Winter #WinterAppeal #WrappedInCARE

"The Knesset’s vote on Monday to ban UNRWA from operating in areas under Israel’s control is indefensible and flies in the face of the countless promises to its allies that it plans to increase aid into the country." - Helen McEachern, CEO, CARE International UK The UN has already declared that everyone in the north is now at risk of death. Palestinians are being bombed, maimed and starved. They cannot take any more. At CARE International, we rely on UNWRA for the provision of fuel that is critical to the delivery of our emergency response inside Gaza. Without it, our ability to provide healthcare, protection, food, shelter, and safe water will be severely impaired. We urge world leaders to do all they can to pressure Israel into reversing this law and securing an immediate ceasefire. The UK Government must end all arms sales to Israel. Despite the challenges, DEC charities like CARE are there right now working with local partners and providing lifesaving aid, but they need more funds. A huge thank you to Riz Ahmed, Joe Alwyn, Ruth Negga and all those supporting the appeal. Please spread the word and give what you can. “Honestly, I try really hard to be a good mum or a supermom. Sometimes I feel really strong and other times I feel weak.” Zenab* is a single mum living in a tent in southern Gaza, raising two baby girls amidst bombardment, lack of food and spreading illnesses while the cost of essential items, like nappies, has skyrocketed. These are just a few of the challenges faced by women in conflict, but they continue to take care of their families. CARE is on the ground in Gaza delivering aid to those who need it most.
