Proud to stand with every child.

About us

Save the Children exists to help every child reach their full potential. In more than 100 countries including the UK, we help children stay safe, healthy and keep learning. We lead the way on tackling big problems like pneumonia, hunger and protecting children in war, while making sure each child’s unique needs are cared for. We find new ways to reach children who need us most, no matter where they’re growing up. For a century, we’ve stood up for children and made sure their voices are heard. We wrote the treaty that sets out the rights of every child, and we’ve been upholding them every day since. We know we can’t do this alone. Together with children, supporters and partners, we work to help every child become who they want to be.

Updates

  • We were recently at the Africa Health Agenda International Conference (AHAIC) in Rwanda discussing one of the world’s most urgent health challenges. 💉 Nigeria and Ethiopia are home to the largest number of zero-dose children – those who’ve never had a vaccination – on the African continent, with more than 2.2 million and 1.1 million respectively missing out on essential vaccinations. Under the theme ‘Connected for Change’, we hosted a panel exploring how we are reaching these children through our long-standing partnership with GSK, as well as sharing lessons learned and different perspectives on innovative new ways to reach more children in marginalised communities. With thanks to GSK, PATH, CCRDA, World Health Organization African Region, Africa CDC, together we are working to ensure no child is left behind. Here’s what our experts and #AHAIC2025 attendees had to say about this important topic 👇

  • One year ago, we launched our Community Power project with Morgan Stanley. ⭐ Since then we have directly supported more than 370 families with young children in Glasgow and Tower Hamlets through our Early Years Grants. These grants can be a lifeline for families with young children experiencing financial hardship, providing them with necessities such as food vouchers and home essentials. Through our partnership, families have also received learning packs with books and toys designed to support children’s communication and language development. Thank you Morgan Stanley for your continued support. Together we will keep creating long-lasting impact for children growing up in poverty.

  • Nearly two years into conflict, Sudan is facing an unprecedented humanitarian health crisis. Recent heavy shelling and heightened violence in Sudan's Zamzam refugee camp is destroying childhoods and hindering efforts to deliver humanitarian assistance. Access to the camp is now nearly impossible. We're continuing to provide critical humanitarian support to displaced people in Zamzam, particularly through our mobile health services, but our operations may be affected if the security situation deteriorates further and there is no safe passage for food and medical aid into the camp. A crisis like this can't be solved by charities alone – it needs political action. Children are always famine’s first victims and are already facing avoidable and excruciating deaths due to malnutrition and disease. We're calling on the international community to urgently ramp up efforts to demand a ceasefire to allow safe humanitarian access, and a drastic scale-up of humanitarian assistance. Without immediate action, more young lives will be lost. #StopTheWarOnChildren

  • We're proudly launching Save the Children’s Humanitarian Network – a powerful new collective committed to standing together with children facing crises around the world. 👏 Yesterday, senior leaders from across the private sector marked the launch alongside Save the Children’s experts and had a solutions-focused discussion about the future of humanitarian action. Founding network members GSK, Collinson, and Norton Rose Fulbright, were joined by guests from our partners Vodafone Foundation, Virgin Atlantic, AXA XL, and more. For over a century, Save the Children has responded to disasters around the world and pioneered new solutions for some of the most complex problems in times of crisis. By working in partnership we can ensure we’re there for children before, during and after disaster strikes. Working for a more just, sustainable world

As a fellow hiker, all respect for GSK employees who reached the summit of Mount Kenya, raising almost £200,000 for the Save the Children emergency fund.   For over a decade we’ve been working in partnership with GSK towards our shared vision of a world where no child suffers from a vaccine preventable disease. Thank you for your unwavering support.    Watch the inspiring video of the trekker’s journey below, and there’s still time to support their fundraising, if you can.

Our commitment to global health and making a positive impact on communities in need is shared by our passionate employees. Through our #TrekForHealth initiative in partnership with ViiV Healthcare, our team of 40 employees conquered the incredible challenge of a 75km trek up Mount Kenya, the second highest peak in Africa. But this expedition meant more than just climbing a mountain. It was an opportunity to raise funds in support of the remarkable work of AMREF in Kenya and to Save the Children UK’s emergency fund and country programmes. Our trekkers had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the impactful projects carried out by AMREF in Nyeri county. Join us in celebrating this achievement and recognising the power of collective action for global health. Watch their journey: https://gsk.to/4kxCxDK

  • This International Women’s Day we celebrate the power of women – and the girls who will shape tomorrow. 💪 Right now, over 100 million girls around the world are out of school. The girls most impacted by inequality and discrimination – including those living through conflict and humanitarian crises – face the greatest risk. That’s why we are working together with the LEGO Group and The LEGO Foundation, to promote girls’ learning, creativity, and development. Through our Girls Unstoppable programme we are supporting over 10,000 girls aged between 10 and 13 across the world. In China, Indonesia, Mexico and Vietnam the programme supports girls’ clubs allowing them to meet, play, and gain confidence to voice issues important to them. Watch the video below for a snapshot of the work we are doing to empower girls and ensure they have the opportunities they deserve.
