To celebrate Pancake Day, our Charity and Social Committee donned their chef’s hats and hosted a fundraiser in support of our Charity Partner, Children's Hospice South West. The pancakes were delicious and a welcome sweet treat on Shrove Tuesday. We're thrilled to be taking part in this year's Devon Business League Construction Cup! 🏎️ The competition involves a series of go-karting races at Raceworld Ltd in Exeter, the first of which took place this week. Our first team of ambitious karters included Owen Thomas, Richard Henderson, Isaac White, Jordan Hellier, Adam Griffin and Chloe Denning. They all raced like champions and we are getting ready to enter our next team for April. Stay tuned to find out if the team can drive their victory in the next round! The designs for our new show home coming later this year to Hollywell Meadow in North Molton are completed and officially signed off, thanks to the excellent work of Show Business Interiors.🌟🏡 Our Managing Director, Paul Moran, Director of Sales and Marketing, Hannah Newnes and Marketing Manager, Chloe Denning met with Siân Jenkins, Creative Director at Show Business Interiors, who presented the stylish and contemporary designs. Hannah said: "There’s a lot of work that goes into preparing a show home opening, but choosing the design and visualising how it will look is a real highlight for me. I’ve worked with Sian for many years and know the level of quality she and her team will achieve. “I am looking forward to opening the show home at Hollywell Meadow this year and inviting prospective buyers to come and see it – I know it will make them want to come home to Cavanna!” Speaking on the partnership, Sian said: "I was thrilled to be contacted by Cavanna Homes to prepare a scheme for this amazing show home. We are pleased to see our People and Culture Manager, Cate Reynolds included in February’s edition of South West Business Insider as part of its ‘People Apprenticeships’ feature. The piece examines how apprenticeships are being used innovatively around the region, and whether more could be done to encourage companies to introduce apprentice opportunities. Cate says enhanced collaboration between the government, employers and educational institutions to ensure programmes align with industry demands, would strengthen the apprenticeship system and help bridge skills gaps within industries. She added: “More targeted support is needed to address the specific skills shortages in construction, such as incentives for training in trade and technical roles.” At Cavanna Homes we’re proud to have supported 15 apprentices through various disciplines, including HR, Commercial, Build Management, Finance, Technical, Admin, and IT, with four apprentices currently in training. Meet Ellie Mason, our Technical Apprentice. Whilst off work with a broken foot, Ellie decided she wanted to move on from her job in hospitality and had the time to research new career opportunities. Had she not, she wouldn’t have found our Technical Apprenticeship and subsequently named our Apprentice of the Year for 2024. This #NationalApprenticeshipWeek, we caught up with Ellie to find out about her journey into the construction industry, why the apprenticeship in our technical team appealed to her, and the highlights of her career so far.
