Today we welcomed Jayne Bryant MS, Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government, to our timber frame factory Celtic Offsite to mark the launch of Tai ar y Cyd. We’re pleased to be one of the 23 partners involved in the Tai ar y Cyd consortium, using standardised housing designs to build the next generation of low carbon homes in Wales. Had a brilliant morning with Celtic Offsite talking all things timber frame construction. 🏗️ The team there can manufacture whole dwellings in a matter of days, all in the safety and cover of their factory in Caerphilly. 30% of their team are also tenants of United Welsh! 🏠 Great to hear all the stats but even more fun to get a tour and see the timbers being put together for peoples homes. 🔧 Thanks to Jodie Follett for showing us around and to Sam Martin BSc (Hons) MSc LLM FCiarb DipAdj and Tanya Simeonova for joining the development team from FCHA | First Choice Housing Association Limited.

We are making good progress at our Cwrt y Rhos development near Bedwas, Caerphilly. Working in partnership with our social enterprise Celtic Offsite and M & J COSGROVE CONSTRUCTION LIMITED we are bringing 31 affordable homes to Caerphilly Borough. We are happy to announce we have entered into contract with Bluefield Land Ltd to begin work on transforming the former Button Factory in Porth. The historic Button Factory provided jobs and a sense of community for past generations in the area. Now, thanks to the support of our partners, we can transform this abandoned site into sustainable, safe and welcoming homes for current and future generations. As we transform the former factory site into somewhere that tenants will call home, along with our partners we want to keep the memories of the site alive. We’ll be working with Celtic Offsite who will be manufacturing the timber frames for the homes and want to create a memorial that celebrates the sites history.
