Our Chief Scientific Officer, Subhasish Mukerjee, delivered a plenary lecture at the UK-HyRES: Hub for Research Challenges in Hydrogen and Alternative Liquid Fuels Stakeholder Showcase in Bath last week. UK-HyRes is a hub seeking to advance the British low-carbon fuel industry, and includes experts from academia, industry, and policy to discuss the latest advancements driving the clean energy transition. Titled ‘Ceres’ Technology for Clean Power and Green Hydrogen’, Subhasish's talk covered Ceres’ innovative solid oxide cells and their benefits for energy production in both efficiency and sustainability. Ceres’ SteelCell technology operates at lower temperatures than other solid oxide technologies and uses commodity steels, which makes the technology resilient and cost-effective. UK-HyRES is funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) through the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and uses interdisciplinary research to advance hydrogen and hydrogen-based, low-carbon liquid fuel projects. We are honoured to be a part of the conversation and research driving the British low-carbon fuel industry, which will help the UK to reach its net zero goals. Subhasish also joined a UK delegation representing Hy-Res and HI-ACT to the British Embassy Berlin, to exchange with German hydrogen experts and further develop UK-German research and innovation cooperation. The delegation also attended the H2 Forum, had useful discussions with #Fraunhofer institutes, had the opportunity to visit the historical Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft which was a valuable insight into cutting-edge research on hydrogen and were hosted by Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft / Helmholtz Association for engaging discussions. Brilliant to see more activity in the green hydrogen and renewable energy sectors in India, with our Regional Business Head for India Saad Ashraf at the #GlobalGreenHydrogenandRenewableEnergySummit in Kerala, where a localised green hydrogen ecosystem is developing.
Business Head - India | Ceres Power | Green Hydrogen & Clean Energy | Electrolyser Technology & Licensing | Driving Sustainable Innovation
Great catching up with industry friends and colleagues at "Global Green Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Summit" in Kochi, Kerala earlier this week. Kerala is emerging as a major hub for Green Hydrogen and RE initiatives under the leadership of Shri K R Jyothilal, IAS (Principal Secretary, Kerala Government). The state is also developing "Hydrogen Valley Innovation Cluster" led by ANERT (Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology) to create a localised green hydrogen ecosystem. Kerala cabinet has approved draft guidlines for Floating Solar Power projects and also issued the draft Green Hydrogen Policy. Fun fact, Kochi International Airport is world's first fully solar powered airport, achieving this status in 2015. #greenhydrogen #renewableenergy #kerala Ceres

In the latest in our Ceres Insights series and tying in with British Science Association's #BritishScienceWeek2025, product applications specialist Chandra Macauley dives into how Ceres' cells are the foundational building block of our technology, scaling up to systems and, in the case of SOEC, plant level to suit high power applications and industrial level hydrogen production. Due to the reversible nature of Ceres' highly efficient cell technology, one factory can manufacture cell and stack for both power generation and electrolysis, resulting in a product portfolio for a myriad of current and future applications. Together, these qualities make Ceres' technology adaptable for a wide range of applications and well-suited to support the change needed for the #energytransition. In the latest edition of H2 View Magazine, our Chief Technology Officer, Caroline Hargrove discusses the importance of reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for fuel cells while keeping the technology resilient, efficient, and durable. The article investigates how cell manufacturing costs can be lowered without stifling innovation and efficiency and presents case studies on how to best strike this balance. Caroline highlights how Ceres, as well as looking for ways to make fuel cell technology more cost-efficient, it is also exploring how to improve durability: "We're constantly working and evolving our fuel cell technology to last longer. Not only does it reduce TCO, but it gives you robustness and, therefore confidence" Made from mass-market and widely available materials, Ceres’ highly efficient solid oxide technology is inherently cost-effective, #robust and #scalable. It is an ideal technology to tackle air pollution and climate change as it significantly lowers carbon emissions and pollutants, lowers running costs and can enable renewables.
