Wow – Chelmsford has been named best place to live in the east of England by The Times and The Sunday Times ‘Best Places to Live 2025’! 🎉 It makes us so proud to see this sort of national recognition! 😁 Congratulations to everyone who makes Chelmsford what it is – our brilliant businesses, fantastic venues, kind community groups, amazing schools and of course – our residents. 🤗 A big shout out to our neighbours Saffron Walden in Uttlesford District Council who were crowned best place to live in the whole of the UK. 👑 Proving, yet again, that the only way is Essex 😉 💪 https://lnkd.in/e5YsTiTY Invest Chelmsford Business

Making Chelmsford a better place to live, work and visit.
About us
Our city: As Essex's first city, Chelmsford is one of the fastest-growing centres in the East of England. We have a rising population, an emerging economy and low unemployment. Beyond the city, the Chelmsford district includes the riverside town of South Woodham Ferrers and numerous villages within attractive countryside. Chelmsford is a popular choice for businesses and residents alike, located in the heart of Essex and a short distance from the capital via fantastic transport links. We have a thriving community of 9,500 businesses, outstanding schools and the Times Higher Education University of the Year 2023. The district is also home to impressive attractions including the fully restored Grade II* listed Hylands House, Essex’s only ice rink, 9 local nature reserves, 17 Green Flag awarded parks and a vibrant events programme. Chelmsford has been awarded Purple Flag status for 10 years running for a safe and enjoyable a night out. Our council: Chelmsford City Council serves a population of over 181,000 and visitors from beyond the district. Our 1,300-strong workforce of full-time, part-time and casual staff make a real difference to residents and visitors alike. ‘Our Chelmsford, Our Plan’ sets out our priorities to make Chelmsford a fairer, greener, safer and better-connected place to live, work and visit. At the heart of how we work are our core values: accountability, creativity, trust and learning and encouraging. Want to join OurTeam? 🏛️ Chelmsford High Street through the ages 🏛️ Whether a growing market town powered by coal or today’s re-pedestrianised city centre, the quality of the air we breathe is something generations of Chelmsfordians have cared about. We’ve come a long way since the Industrial Revolution and these days, air quality is generally good in Chelmsford. But exposure to air pollution remains the biggest environmental risk to public health in the UK. Councils in Essex are seeking your views on a new plan to improve air quality across the county. Click the link in the comments to read the strategy and have your say before the consultation ends on 2 March. Photos courtesy of Chelmsford Museum
