We believe that farm animals should not and need not suffer.
About us
Compassion in World Farming was founded in 1967 by a British farmer who became horrified by the development of modern, intensive factory farming. Today we campaign peacefully to end all cruel factory farming practices. We believe that the biggest cause of cruelty on the planet deserves a focused, specialised approach – so we only work on farm animal welfare.

“Around 8 million UK laying hens spend most of their lives suffering behind bars. Imprisoned in ‘enriched’ cages, these hens have little more space than a sheet of A4 paper each." - Dame Joanna Lumley Our joint petition with Joanna, hosted on the government petitions website, has now passed the 10,000 signature mark, so we're due a written response. While we wait we're pushing ahead to reach the 100,000 signature goal to secure a debate in Parliament. UK citizen or resident? Sign the petition to #EndTheCageAge >> https://bit.ly/40sMw4g
