Connecting people, supporting action.
About us
We have been at the heart of voluntary and community action here in the North East of England for 90 years. Working towards a fairer future for all, we strive to enable everyone in our region to have the good quality of life that we deserve. We provide free advice and support to people and organisations to help them make a positive difference, as well as ethical accountancy that directly funds our charitable work. We campaign for health equality and represent our charity, social enterprise and voluntary community both regionally and nationally. We connect people through events and networks, and give people the skills they need to advocate for themselves or turn their ideas into a successful project. We work effectively and accountably to inspire positive and lasting change throughout our community.

We’re shining a light on positive #mentalhealth as part of this year’s World Suicide Prevention Day (Tuesday 10 September 2024) #WSPD With the North East region having the highest suicide rate in the UK (12.8 deaths per 100,000 in 2022) and 74% of suicides across England and Wales being male*, our ‘Men’s Health Hub’ helps vulnerable adults living in supported accommodation. It is proving to be a firm lifeline to people of all ages facing challenging circumstances and personal difficulties, as well as those on the road to recovery. The Men’s Health Hub is part of our wider Health Champions project which since launching in April 2024, has seen 97 male and women residents living across Tyneside and Northumberland reach out for support. This is a huge first step for those feeling overwhelmed, lost or without hope, and often demonstrating negative behaviours.
