  • Crescent Salford is made up of six distinctive zones, the first of which is Crescent Innovation - a hub for research, new discoveries, and technology, fostering a vibrant community of learning and creativity. Sitting in the strategic location of the ‘Innovation triangle’ – close to MediaCityUK, The University of Salford, and Salford Royal Hospital – it will catalyse growth and bring innovation to the forefront. Covering 29 acres, Crescent Innovation will include: 🌳 New planting along the riverbank and tree-lined boulevards to improve biodiversity connectivity between habitats 🏠 933 new homes 💥 1.7m sq. ft of new commercial innovation, academic and research floorspace Crescent Innovation is already taking shape, with work underway on Salford Rise, an elevated green walkway encouraging active travel and surrounded by high-quality green spaces. Plans are also in motion for the Acoustics Building, a state-of-the-art facility that will house the University of Salford’s Acoustics Department.   • Homes that make a difference to people and the planet.   ECF has submitted plans for an additional 42 Passivhaus Classic certified homes in Crescent Salford.   Located on Cleminson Street’s Farmer Norton car park, these affordable, sustainable, three-bedroom homes will form part of Adelphi Village. They have been designed with the health and wellbeing of residents in mind, and the people living there will benefit from:   💡 Reduced energy bills of up to 90% compared to traditional housing 🏡 A comfortable living environment ☁️ Enhanced ventilation 🍃 Sustainable design and build   Set around high-quality public realm and designed by architects dRMM, Farmer Norton forms part of the wider £2.5bn Crescent Salford masterplan which will deliver up to 3,000 homes in the city.   If approved, work is scheduled to begin in summer 2025 and follows the success of Greenhaus – which saw 96 pioneering Passivhaus homes completed in March 2024 – and Willohaus, which is bringing a further 100 Passivhaus apartments to Salford and is expected to complete next year.   #Passivhaus #Placemaking #Salford

  • New year, new plans.   The start of 2025 has seen plans submitted by the Crescent partnership for a state-of-the-art Acoustics Building in the Crescent Salford innovation zone which would help to enhance the city’s global reputation for industry and innovation.   Designed to house the research, commercial and teaching activities of The University of Salford’s Acoustics Department, the 1,300m2 building will be a key feature of Crescent Innovation, which aims to enhance links between academia, research and business and drive further economic growth in Salford.   This world-class facility will be all-electric, target a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’ and utilise low-energy, low-carbon technologies to minimise energy consumption.   If the plans are approved, work is expected to start in summer 2025 and complete in spring 2027.   #Salford #innovation #placemaking

  • As the year draws to a close, we're reflecting on some of the Crescent Salford success stories from 2024.   In Spring, work began on Willohaus, a collection of 100 affordable, high-quality homes on Peru Street designed by Buttress to Passivhaus Classic certified standard.   July saw plans approved to bring forward Crescent Innovation, a pioneering element of the Crescent Salford masterplan, which will add 933 homes and 1.7 million sq. ft of commercial and academic floorspace.   Elsewhere, work began on Salford Rise in September, connecting Crescent Innovation and The University of Salford with surrounding communities through an elevated green walkway and high-quality public spaces, improving accessibility and encouraging active travel.   There are also exciting updates on the university campus and plans in place for further new homes.   Watch this space for more milestones in 2025 as Crescent Salford continues to come to life.

  • Building homes fit for the future. Through Crescent Salford, we’re creating a vibrant, well-connected community with sustainability at its heart. And, as part of this, we’re delivering high-quality, affordable housing which is designed with the environment in mind. Willohaus – located on Peru Street – is being built to Passivhaus Classic certified standard, and will be the second development of its kind in the city following the completion of Greenhaus on Chapel Street earlier this year. Comprising 100 one and two-bedroomed homes, the eco-friendly apartments will help residents reduce their energy bills by up to 90% compared to traditional housing. Delivered by ECF alongside Salix Homes, Willohaus is set to complete in 2026 and will mark the first homes handed over to residents as part of the £2.5bn Crescent Salford regeneration.   • Salford rising. Work has recently begun on a transformative element of the wider £2.5bn, 240-acre Crescent Salford masterplan, marking a significant step in bringing the vision to life. Delivered by ECF, Salford Rise is centred around a five-acre elevated walkway that will act as a green gateway between The University of Salford’s campus and the Crescent innovation zone. Standing at 11 metres wide and 220 metres long, it will be a haven for pedestrians and cyclists, encouraging active travel, improving connectivity between communities and fostering collaboration between academia and industry.
