Mike Moore, Director of Facilities Management Advisory Services and Mohammed Almalki, FM Consultant (Mechanical), will be at the International Facility Management Conference and Exhibition in Riyadh. Mike will be talking about how good facilities management starts on the drawing board. He believes it’s vital to undertake facilities management design reviews at each stage of the design process Mike will explain how failure to consider facilities management early can lead to issues with the operability or maintainability of the project and drive up the overall whole life cost of the development. At the design stage, the Facilities Manager can give a practical perspective of what works and what doesn’t. As they’re ultimately responsible for the day-to-day management of the development once completed, using their knowledge early can lead to increased efficiencies and cost savings throughout the entire lifecycle of the building. If you’re attending, or you’d like to speak to an expert about the critical role of facilities management in the design stage, please contact Mike. Andy Dedman, Regional Managing Director for London and the South East, will present at The Association of University Directors of Estates (#AUDE) Showcase tomorrow. The topic of discussion is ‘Procurement, Risks and Challenges in the Current Construction Market’. This session will focus on challenges clients face when going to market to procure their projects. We will look at risks faced by clients and contractors and how these are factored into tender prices. With high-profile contractors struggling and the collapse of some large-name M&E firms, the session will explore how this has affected the marketplace and the impact on confidence within financing institutions. The AUDE Showcase is a brand-new concept event for the association, which will highlight the great work of their special interest groups. The Showcase is being held at the University of Nottingham’s East Midlands Conference Centre on 3 September. #Procurement #Education

We have worked with AECOM and Gleeds to form the UK Healthcare Alliance (UKHA). This new organisation will manage the delivery of two new regional hospitals in northern Peru, while also upskilling the local workforce through knowledge transfer programmes. With nearly £500 million invested through a Government-to-Government agreement with PRONIS, these hospitals will bring advanced healthcare services to Piura and Trujillo, improving access to care and creating local jobs. Expected to open by late 2028, this initiative marks a significant advancement in the region's healthcare infrastructure. Find out more about these new hospitals and the UKHA on our website: https://lnkd.in/e_zDvDS6

From 1997 to 2010, over 700 public sector projects transformed key areas like education and healthcare, many enabled by the now discontinued Private Finance Initiative (PFI). While PFI had its merits, its complexity ultimately hindered progress. Today, with the Labour Government’s National Wealth Fund driving new investments, there's an opportunity to explore fresh Public-Private Partnerships (PPP). Scotland’s Non-Profit Distributing (NPD) model offers a promising alternative, prioritising public value by reinvesting profits into projects and fostering collaboration. A reimagined PPP structure could boost the construction industry, driving productivity and sustainability. Success will depend on clear metrics, transparency, and a focus on long-term benefits. Read the latest article by Nick Gray, our chief operating officer for the UK & Europe, in Construction News, where he discusses the need for a new form of PPP. https://lnkd.in/erQBqBtV #Infrastructure #Construction #PublicPrivatePartnerships #PPP #PFI #NPD #UKGrowth
