To close out a brilliant day of sessions at Mortgage Adviser Event Glasgow, we had Andy Dean (Lloyds Banking Group), Louise Thorpe (Darlington Building Society) and Louise Weiss (Bank of Ireland) discussing how advisers can help first-time buyers meet their home-owning aspirations without Help to Buy and amid increasing affordability challenges. Chaired by Andy Shields and put together by the Square 1 Media Limited & Financial Reporter teams, the session took in everything from shared ownership and low deposit product options to managing FTB expectations. 🏠

Happy International Women's Day! We hosted our first internal community day by coming together to celebrate International Women's Day, and some of our fantastic charity partners who help women and girls in the local community.  Thank you to our brilliant speakers from  The Junction Foundation, The Girls' Network and Catherine Easton, Sunderland University lecturer and former Detective. Equality is incredibly important to Darlington Building Society. This year we have improved our maternity leave package for colleagues (26 weeks full pay), and continue our commitment to the Women in Finance Charter to help close the gender pay gap and support female representation in senior roles, in keeping with this year's #AccelarateAction theme #IWD2025

✨📣We're delighted to have enhanced our parental leave package!📣✨ We now offer 26 weeks’ full pay for primary caregivers, and 13 weeks’ full pay for secondary caregivers.
