Over 3,000 homes and businesses will ultimately benefit from enhanced protection from tidal flooding, thanks to a £33m investment by the Department for Infrastructure, Minister Liz Kimmins has said. Visiting the recently completed Belfast Tidal Flood Alleviation Scheme today, the Infrastructure Minister said: “Adapting to climate is one of my Department’s seven Foundations for a Better Future. While we cannot prevent all flooding from happening, we can reduce the impacts with appropriate infrastructure investment. The completion of this £33m scheme is a major boost for over 3000 homes and businesses not only today but also for future generations as we bolster our defences to help protect against tidal flooding.” Find out more about the Belfast Tidal Flood Alleviation Scheme here: https://lnkd.in/eFvVUQsS ICE Northern Ireland Caoimhe O'Neill Johnathan Carlisle Denis McMahon

Our Rivers engineers recently took part in an online webinar focussed on the Portadown Flood Alleviation Scheme. The event, run by the Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) as part of its Flood Adaption and Resilience series, delved into the finer details of the scheme. The scheme is now in its design stage and when completed it aims to reduce the risk of fluvial flooding in the Portadown area, protecting approximately 380 properties. 🌊🌐🏆 We’re delighted to announce that our Rivers team has been shortlisted in the ESRI Ireland Customer Success Awards in the ‘Use of Mobile’ category. This recognition highlights our innovative use of mobile Geographical Information System (GIS) technology to enhance infrastructure management. By adopting digital tools, we’ve transformed how we record and manage the maintenance of designated watercourses—helping to keep them free-flowing and reduce flood risk. Moving from a paper-based system to GIS-powered mobile workflows has made data collection faster, more accurate, and easily accessible for field and office teams alike. Best of luck to our project team attending the ESRI Awards Ceremony on 10th April! #MakingaDifference

🎬Have you seen our new pedestrian road safety advertisement? 📹 Now you can get a sneak peek behind the scenes of the advert being filmed in the video below ⤵️ The behind-the-scenes footage is light-hearted but the message we are conveying in our advert is serious: Pedestrians will continue to be killed on our roads if we don't look out for each other while walking or driving. Remember, shared roads, shared risk. You can view the finished advert here: https://lnkd.in/eCZFgfCz #RoadWiseUp
