The Minister said: “First Derivative is experiencing increasing demand for its world class financial and technology services and this is reflected in its ongoing recruitment of both recent graduates and experienced professionals into high value roles, including through my Department’s Assured Skills programme. "As an important employer in Newry and the surrounding area, the company is an exemplar of my strategic economic priority of regional balance, and I was pleased to hear today of its continued success in the international marketplace.”

Economy Minister Conor Murphy has welcomed an innovative partnership between Northern Ireland Screen and community-sharing app Olio to collect unconsumed food from large scale film and high-end TV productions to share with local families in need. The Minister said: “This innovative partnership between NI Screen and Olio is a great example of how the screen industry can work collaboratively with the community and voluntary sector to create a more just and sustainable circular economy. By engaging the Olio food waste app, the industry is not only reducing its carbon footprint but also supporting those most in need.” Read more⬇️
📣 We’re tackling food waste on set and supporting local communities in need through an innovative partnership with community sharing app Olio. ♻️ During a trial period the partnership has delivered immediate and tangible results: ➡️On set of a TV drama series Olio volunteers rescued 295.3kg from waste, redistributing 664 meals with 1,202kg of C02 emissions avoided. 📺 During a recent set visit to a large-scale production Economy Minister, Conor Murphy met with Olio Food Waste Hero Demi to find out how the food sharing platform facilitates production caterers to notify local volunteers about available food at the end of each shooting day. Economy Minister Conor Murphy today attended Hydrogen NI’s conference in Belfast where he addressed senior stakeholders from across the local energy sector. The Minister said: “Achieving net zero is one of my economic priorities, alongside regional balance, productivity and good jobs, and the hydrogen industry has a contribution to make to each of these, helping to both decarbonise our environment and create economic opportunities. “I am committed to exploring all opportunities to help the sector grow here, including collaborating with my counterparts in Dublin and London, and I have set up a hydrogen industry working group which Hydrogen NI will participate in as we work together to maximise the opportunities hydrogen presents.”
