Role play equips learners to handle the unpredictable nature of real-life communication. It provides a context for language use that fosters spontaneity, recovery strategies, appropriate tone, and linguistic creativity simultaneously thereby encouraging students to engage in higher-order thinking. By offering tangible proof of their language success, role play builds confidence in a low-risk setting. After all, isn’t encouraging students to experiment with language exactly what we aim to achieve? Discover more about the benefits of role play, tips for incorporating it into your classroom, and much more in my blog from Discover the World Education: https://lnkd.in/eA5JqeHF

Insightful article from our Iceland TTL, Elen about the benefits (and barriers) of outdoor learning experiences 👇
As a geographer, I've always enjoyed taking part in learning outside the classroom experiences. During my teaching career I've been fortunate enough to teach on, and organise, a huge variety of fieldtrips and expeditions and I've always firmly believed students learn better by experiencing an environment first hand. Over the past year, I've been fortunate to focus my research for Sevenoaks School's Institute of Teaching & Learning on the benefits of, and barriers to, outdoor education experiences. Pleased to have my research summary of the background, planned, bonus, and wider benefits, alongside barriers/ considerations published in this year's edition of Innovate magazine, alongside a diverse range of articles from my colleagues too! https://lnkd.in/eqsmbcpE
