A huge part of providing the very best care is ensuring the highest standards are met everywhere in our services. These high standards in Food Hygiene were recently externally recognised at one of our newest services, Dunnock View, whose kitchen team were awarded a five-star rating following their recent inspection. A huge, and well-deserved, well done to the team there.

The people we support and colleagues across Elysium raised hundreds of pounds for cancer research during the recent Macmillan Coffee Morning event. With cakes baked, and hot drinks brewed, people gathered together to raise funds for this great cause including the young people at Bere Clinic and the people we support at Farmfield, Victoria Gardens, The Limes and Wellesley Hospital. At Field House there were a wide variety of sweet treats including chocolate brownies, blondies, cupcakes, cakes, Rocky Road and cherry Bakewells.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. During this month, we will be sharing information on this important topic. You can watch the recorded session here: https://hubs.la/Q02SzbMF0 It is the first in a series of four videos hosted by Sophie which we will share throughout the month and which will explore key topics including what contributes to the perpetration of IPV, the formulation of trauma informed approaches to understanding IPV, and assessing risk and exploring offence paralleling behaviours for IPV.

Dr Quazi Haque, Chief Medical Officer & Executive Operational Director, Elysium Healthcare, Natalie Oakden, Hospital Director, and Brooke Wood, Lead Nurse at Spring Wood Lodge, are looking forward to the opening of Blake Ward at Spring Wood Lodge in Leeds next week!   The Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) will support up to 6 women aged 18 and over, providing emergency care for those experiencing an acute psychiatric crisis. When medical colleagues gathered for the Elysium Annual Medical Conference later last month, they heard from Professor Piyal Sen, Medical Director at Chadwick Lodge, on the fascinating subject of Psychiatry and Human Rights. In his presentation Professor Sen, who is also Chair of the Human Rights Special Committee at the Royal College Psychiatrists, delved further into the subject and focused on the science, the politics and the humanity aspects of human rights and the potential impact each of these has on those practising psychiatry in the UK. During his presentation Professor Sen also gave an overview of the work of the Special Committee of Human Rights. Professor Sen tells us more: https://hubs.la/Q02R-NwX0
