Endometriosis UK have today launched a new Endometriosis Symptom Checker. This simple to use online form will ask questions about the symptoms you’re having and identifies common symptoms of endometriosis. When you’re finished, the symptom checker will automatically generate a letter from Endometriosis UK to share with your GP.                                                                                                                              We hope that the endometriosis symptom checker will help those experiencing symptoms of endometriosis to start a conversation with their GP, help GPs understand what you’re experiencing and support diagnosis. JUST PUBLISHED! Lydia Coxon investigated symptom flares in women with chronic pelvic pain and discovered these are prevalent and clinically important. With >60% of respondents stating flares can stop them from their usual activities, it is clear that more research is required to investigate the mechanisms and characteristics underlying flares. Despite a range of symptoms being reported by patients, triggers are often identified with the underlying mechanisms remaining unknown and no treatments for stopping or reducing the flares. A new review has just been published by the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death on #endometriosis. Endometriosis: A Long and Painful Road looks at the current quality and pathway of care to adults diagnosed with endometriosis. Recommendations include highlighting that endometriosis is a chronic condition, improving training on recognising the signs & symptoms - it's not just bad periods, setting up multidisciplinary teams & clinical networks, recognising the impact on quality of life and providing access to support services. https://lnkd.in/df8bT95q

Katy Vincent recently guested on the What A Pain podcast with Glyn Williams, Consultant in Paediatric Anaesthesia and Pain Management on Great Ormond Street Hospital and Konrad Jacobs, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Oxford Centre for Children and Young People in Pain, Oxford University Hospitals. They discuss chronic pelvic pain in adolescents and young people, having a multidisciplinary clinic and how this can be cross referred from GPs and other consultants.
