Day two of eTail Germany Connect is well underway! Following Prof. Dr. Moritz E. Behm's creative opening address, the subject on everyone's lips was loyalty. What is the future of loyalty in the industry and how can we crack the loyalty code? Mike Egbert, head of eCommerce performance management at Douglas shared how Douglas leveraged a mobile app as a retention vehicle and created successful commercial perspectives in omnichannel retail. He also explained the potential pitfalls and commercial benefits on the horizon when it comes to strengthening brand loyalty. Another highlight from this morning was our Oxford-style debate that had the crowd buzzing with discussion based around the statement “TRUE or FALSE – AI and the metaverse will make physical shopping a thing of the past” Both sides presented their cases brilliantly on AI’s controversial impact on the retail industry and how it can be used to deliver top-notch customer experience. One of the afternoon's highlights was Robert Clinton's session on reinventing commerce strategies. As Vice President of Northern Europe, DACH, and CEE at Emplifi, Robert emphasised the critical need for brands to adapt to the rapidly evolving digital landscape. From changing consumer expectations to best social practices for staying ahead, the presentation gave attendees a clear understanding of the imperative to continuously innovate and adapt their strategies to thrive in the post-2020 digital era.
