A notable milestone as piling works start at Central Quay in Glasgow. A 934 bed student accommodation project for Unite Students and being delivered by GRAHAM CONSTRUCTION LIMITED. The building will have four linked blocks with the tallest of those reaching twenty storeys. The next phase in the comprehensive redevelopment of the Anderston Quay area, we are witness to a huge transformation in the cityscape of Glasgow. Urban regeneration in action! Well done to everyone getting to this point; its a great team and we've really enjoyed the collaboration thus far. For now though, we are knee-deep in reinforcement detailing - no changes allowed now team..... 😉 Axiom Project Services Limited Hadfield Cawkwell Davidson Ltd Roger Bullivant Limited Troup Bywaters + Anders

About us
Etive is a privately owned, consulting civil and structural engineering practice, working on projects across the UK. The Directors of the business are focused on delivering a personalised service to Clients. Anyone can design the basic "beams and columns", and that's an important role. But when an engineer can do that whilst thinking more broadly about the development process as a whole, an important role becomes one that can deliver real value to Clients. This is the ethos behind Etive. Our current workload includes a mix of student housing, BTR, mainstream residential, schools, healthcare and commercial property.

Some weeks it's golf resorts and some weeks it's RC framed PBSA buildings. But this week it's replacement footbridges in Dollar Glen for National Trust for Scotland. Variety is definitely the spice of life! Quite a dramatic location and an extremely busy route leading from Dollar up into Castle Campbell and the Ochil Hills beyond. Photos taken by our Caroline Rutherford who was undertaking a completion inspection. #StructuralEngineering #Bridges #Scotland

Construction work is taking place on the new #Nairn Academy which is programmed to be operational in August 2026. The school has a planning capacity of 800 pupils and is part of The Scottish Government’s Learning Estate Investment Programme (LEIP). Chair of the Education Committee, Cllr John Finlayson said: “This is an exciting development for the area and for members of the community who I am sure are eagerly awaiting its completion. “The Highland Council is committed to improving the Education estate across Highland. Nairn Academy is a pilot project for us and is one of the first low energy complete ‘Passivhaus’ schools to be constructed in Highland. “Improving our school estate is a challenge, but it is one we are committed to addressing with the support of our partners to offer more quality learning environments for school communities. We look forward in anticipation to a fantastic new school building for the pupils of Nairnshire.” Housing & Property Committee Chair, Cllr Glynis Campbell Sinclair said: “A great amount of work has taken place already in the preparation of the new school build, and we are beginning to see results of those great efforts from those involved in the project. The community will now be able to see the new school take shape as the steelwork goes up on site. This is really exciting, and we wish the construction team the very best with the build phase and look forward to progress updates.” The campus will become Balfour Beatty plc's second Passivhaus certified school building in Scotland – a quality assurance certification for the design and construction of low energy buildings and is due to be complete by August 2026. Hector MacAulay MBE, Managing Director of Balfour Beatty’s regional business in Scotland said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to deliver this latest new project, further enhancing our legacy in delivering state-of-the-art, sustainable educational facilities across Scotland. “With works now underway, we are working closely and collaboratively with The Highland Council to successfully deliver this new school which will provide an exciting and inspirational learning environment for hundreds of students and teachers, serving both current and future generations.” The £61m contract awarded to Balfour Beatty is funded from Phase 2 of the Scottish Government's LEIP announced in December 2020, and capital funding for the project was approved by The Highland Council in September 2023.

We recently submitted our plans to Glasgow City Council for the redevelopment of a redundant and outdated office building at 285 Bath Street to provide much-needed purpose-built student accommodation. Situated in the city centre of Glasgow, 285 Bath Street will bring forward 231 rooms along with associated amenities. It is ideally located within walking distance of several universities, including the Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow Caledonian University, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Strathclyde University. Scottish architecture studio Manson's revised designs, which incorporate feedback received during the public consultation, aim to deliver a sustainable building with a modern and distinctive design that complements the surrounding area. The plans also include a publicly accessible ground-floor area, which is being offered to local groups as a community space, café or retail unit. McLaren Property's divisional managing director, David Atherton, said: "We are grateful for the level of engagement from the local community throughout the consultation process to bring this city centre site back into active use. "The feedback we have received has been invaluable in shaping these plans to bring best-in-class student homes to Glasgow, which will help address the continued shortage of student accommodation in the city."
