We’ve teamed up with HydroNeo to enhance #shrimpwelfare by integrating our shrimp welfare assessment framework into their smart farm management app. 🦐📱 “By improving shrimp welfare on farms, we’re not only helping farmers grow happier animals, but they’ll be healthier and perform better too. As well as meeting the evolving expectations of consumers regarding welfare practices when rearing shrimp, we’re also improving overall farm performance,” - Fabian Reusch chief executive of HydroNeo. 🇭🇳 During our recent visit to Honduras we also delivered five tilapia workshops. 🐟 The workshops focused on assessing tilapia welfare using the FAI tilapia welfare app, with one workshop introducing the science of tilapia welfare. The trainees included a fish vet plus farm managers and technicians from several local farms. 📝 🐟 Using a mix of classroom and practical sessions, we delivered comprehensive training to help producers understand and monitor welfare in a variety of settings. Overall we scored 300 fish and trained 36 people on how to complete a welfare assessment and use the FAI app. Well done to everyone involved Sara Barrento, MURILO QUINTILIANO, Miguel Venancio Madrid Raudales, Yojana Maday Ordoñez Euceda👏 📱 Our Tilapia Welfare Project aims to empower farmers with knowledge and practical tools to improve tilapia welfare. 🇭🇳 Our eLearning Manager, Sara Barrento and COO MURILO QUINTILIANO recently visited Honduras to deliver a shrimp farming workshop for Grupo Granjas Marinas (GGM) and Seafarms with Shannon Roberts and Jose Luis Avila Castillo. 🦐 The session saw 68 people trained on how to assess the welfare of the white leg shrimp using the 3-level scoring system. Following this welfare assessment process helps deliver excellent shrimp welfare and better production outcomes. 📈On the second day, the team took part in an in-depth practical training workshop on the farm, with a strong focus on assessing shrimp health. 🤝 Our Shrimp Welfare Project was born out of a collaboration with several industry partners, scientists and shrimp farms and has one simple aim: to help farmers monitor and implement welfare improvements. 📱 Find out more about the project here: https://www.myshrimp.farm Check out our FREE online training: https://lnkd.in/emh8yXji #ShrimpWelfare #SustainableFarming #Aquaculture #AnimalWelfare

🐮 A joy to present our* Regen Dairy work this PM in Amsterdam with the fabulous Sophie Gregory and the brilliant Jo Lawrence. The session was hijacked by the tech pixies so our slides failed to appear until we were half way through - and check out Sophie’s choice of notepad - but while it was sometimes chaotic, our panel was pretty energetic and usually entertaining! (Give me a mic and an audience I’m happy.) Sophie and Jo were just fantastic at bringing regenerative dairy alive - as a farmer-led, supply chain supported necessity. (* Farmwel and FAI Farms) (And… so many sign ups for the 8point9.com newsletter during the session! Thank you! 🙏) The rubber duck shop photo is just for family-friendly Amsterdam context! 🐟🌍 New partnership launched to enhance #tilapia welfare in #Egypt! 🤝#FAI #Farms has joined forces with Egypt's Central Lab for #Aquaculture Research (CLAR) and Ethical Seafood Research to advance #fishwelfare in the #Egyptian tilapia sector. 🗣 “By tailoring welfare practices to Egypt’s specific needs, we hope Egypt can emerge as a global #leader in #tilapiawelfare. We want to be working in countries where tilapia is being produced at scale, so we can improve the lives and #welfare of as many #fish as possible," said FAI’s COO, MURILO QUINTILIANO. 🗣 “Despite the critical role of #tilapiafarming in Egypt and neighbouring countries, welfare remains a largely underexplored area,” stated Professor Refaat El-Gamal, head of the CLAR team. “Through this new #collaboration, we’re committed to developing and implementing welfare #assessment #protocols, tools, and #training materials tailored to the Egyptian #aquacultureindustry." ✨ Read more on this story here 👉 https://lnkd.in/d3YN8thT

🌍💸The ‘hidden’ costs of global agricultural production exceed 10% of global GDP, with environmental costs equating to nearly $2.9 trillion. 🐄 With more than 278 million dairy cows worldwide, the global dairy industry is a significant contributor to these hidden costs. But it doesn’t need to be this way. 🌱 We believe regenerative dairying has the potential to play a significant role in tackling important environmental challenges, as well as combating critical issues facing humanity, like biodiversity loss, soil health, animal health and water use. And all while helping farmers stay profitable, healthy and happy 😊👩🌾 📄 To find out more about this vision for the future, today we’re launching our Let’s Get Serious About Making Dairy Regenerative report at the 2024 Regenerative Agriculture Summit Series Summit Europe. 📥 You can download a copy of the report here: https://lnkd.in/eNMxhqxV Some of the main points include: 🌱 What is regenerative dairying? 🚧 Challenges to scaling regenerative dairy 🔑 Actions for key stakeholders in the industry 🍽️ Redefining what makes a successful food system 🌍 How to transition to a regenerative future 🎙️Chief Editor at 8.9ha, ffinlo Costain is hosting a panel discussion on ‘A Farmer-led Vision for Regenerative Dairy’ later today (16:25) during the Regenerative Agriculture Summit Europe and, alongside Jo Lawrence from Arla Foods and Dorset-based dairy farmer, Sophie Aplin, he’ll be tackling many of the issues raised in the report 📚 🔍You can find out more about the Regen Dairy Project here: https://shorturl.at/UXFB8 📚Sign up to the Regen Dairy Project’s free online farmer training course here: https://shorturl.at/MxXTz 🚜 And you can follow the Regenerative Agriculture Summit Series here: https://shorturl.at/Ya9Lh #Regenerativefarming #Regenerativedairy #Regenag #Regendairy #Sustainabledairy #Dairyfarming

📄🐄To mark the release of our Let’s Get Serious About Making Dairy Regenerative report on Wednesday, FAI project partner and Chief Editor at 8.9ha, ffinlo Costain is hosting a discussion panel on ‘A Farmer-led Vision for Regenerative Dairy’ during this year’s Regenerative Agriculture Summit Series Summit Europe. He’ll be joined by fellow regenerative dairying experts, Jo Lawrence from Arla Foods and Dorset-based dairy farmer, Sophie Aplin. 💬Here’s what ffinlo Costain has to say about the upcoming discussion panel: “We need to get serious about the transition to resilient and regenerative agriculture. The twin crises of climate and nature demand an immediate response, while farmers themselves are facing unprecedented pressures. “This panel focuses on dairy; on opportunities and solutions. Change must be farmer-led, but supply chain supported, so it’s great I'll be talking to innovators from both sides of the farm gate.” 👀 Sound interesting? Then don’t miss out! The talk is taking place at 🕓 16:25 on Wednesday (4th September) and you can visit the Regenerative Agriculture Summit Europe website here: https://shorturl.at/402ey 🔍You can find out more about the Regen Dairy Project here: https://shorturl.at/UXFB8 📚Sign up to the Regen Dairy Project’s free online farmer training course here: https://shorturl.at/MxXTz #Regenerativefarming #Regenerativedairy #Regenag #Regendairy #Sustainabledairy #Dairyfarming
