For World Mental Health Day, 🌎 we’re taking a moment to reflect on the significance of mental health in every aspect of our lives. This year’s theme is Workplace Mental Health, so we’re holding a mental health drop-in session with our Mental Health First Aiders. Colleagues will have the opportunity to ask general questions and find out more about how to support their own positive mental health.  To support the cause, our Wellbeing Champion and Director of Engineering and Operations, George Hickerton, shares what being a Mental Health First Aider means to him and why creating a supportive environment for all colleagues to succeed in is important.  #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthAwareness #BreakTheStigma #SupportEachOther #WorkplaceWellbeing Image description: A graphic showing a quote about supporting mental health with a profile image of George Hickerton, our Director of Engineering and Operations and our Wellbeing champion.

The quote reads "It's really important for me to ensure that all staff feel supported and comfortable coming to me, or any of our Mental Health First Aiders, in a time of crisis. I want to promote a safe and happy working environment in FCDO Services. Now more than ever, it’s hugely important to encourage everyone to speak more openly about our mental health. For too long, people have felt unable to speak out in times of need, and I want to support this change and make a difference."

Read Foreign Secretary David Lammy's statement on the anniversary of October 7: Today marks one year on from the deadliest day for Jewish people since the Holocaust. The October 7 attack by Hamas in Israel showed terrorism on a scale and brutality that few countries have ever experienced.   The unthinkable pain of the victims’ families and loved ones endures to this day.    For some the nightmare continues, hostages still cruelly held by Hamas, including one British national, Emily Damari, and three with strong British links. I met family members again with the Prime Minister last week to hear their stories and reiterate our call for all hostages to be released – their bravery in the most difficult of circumstances is truly humbling. We cherish the gift of the victims’ memory and honour their legacy.   Today, we also reflect on the conflict which followed and continues to this day. Again and again in the past year, we have seen the terrible impact this is having on all communities across the region. The unbearable loss of Palestinian civilians, many of them women and children, in Gaza. The humanitarian catastrophe. My thoughts are with all those who have lost so much.    Our goal is Israel and its neighbours living in peace and security, including a viable and sovereign Palestinian state. This may seem distant right now. But the UK will continue to make every diplomatic effort with its international partners to push for an immediate ceasefire to create space for a political solution.

Last week, colleagues from across Hanslope Park took part in the first ever annual sports day! 🏃♂️ 🏃♀️ 🌞 We had so much fun competing in events such as the three-legged race, egg and spoon race, relay and so much more. There was lots of laughter and energy. A dash of healthy rivalry between the teams made it even more entertaining! A massive shout out with thanks to our colleagues in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office for making the event possible. We loved how resourceful you were, as you can see from the relay batons, making sure no expense was spared! 🥕 The awards ceremony at the end was a lovely touch, with medals made by our park neighbours @HMGCC.  Here’s to more days like these to meet new colleagues and make new friends. 🤝 🙌 #TeamWork #FCDOServices #FunAtWork #SportsDay #TeamSpirit Image description one: Selection of images of people’s feet and legs showing them taking part in running, relay and three-legged race.
