Fintech Fringe helps fintechs scale and grow by providing access to experts and support through events and a platform.

About us

Fintech Fringe made a strong debut at London Tech Week 2023, launching an initiative focused on supporting the growth of fintechs in the UK. The event, designed to be valuable for both international delegations and UK fintechs in high-growth phases, was well-received, leading to the establishment of a regular events program throughout the year. Setting itself apart, Fintech Fringe prioritises delivering content specifically tailored to the needs of business leaders across different functions. The approach is role-specific, aiming to accelerate leadership development on an individual level while driving overall impact across organisations, fostering growth and market expansion. Fintech Fringe now includes the Fintech Fringe Forum—an online platform to connect fintechs with experts. Members can engage with peers and experts in a non-commercial setting to seek the support and advice they need. This platform serves as a valuable resource for the fintech community to navigate scaling challenges and pursue growth in a collaborative environment.

Whether you're leveraging AI, building authentic relationships, or tapping into the power of micro-influencers and UGC, the message is clear: fintech marketing is entering a new era. At this morning's Rise & Shine, sponsored by Rise, created by Barclays and Growth Gorilla, we explored how fintech marketers can stay two steps ahead in a rapidly evolving landscape. Here are the highlights that got everyone buzzing: 💡 AI Beyond the Hype: AI is already embedded in tools like Slack and Notion, optimising efficiency. But in a world of automated content, how do we keep the human element alive? If we’re not careful, AI could lead to everyone producing the same vanilla content. Authenticity is key! 📊 Influencers & UGC: It’s not just about big names anymore. Micro-influencers and customer-driven content are proving to be highly effective and authentic ways to build trust. Your customers are your most powerful influencers—no one knows your brand better! 🎯 Smarter Collaboration: Leverage internal experts as influencers. Through podcasts, interviews, or thought leadership, building your own in-house influencers can be as impactful as hiring external ones—just look at how 11:FS does it! 🌍 The Power of Personal Connection: WhatsApp emerged as a surprising game changer, offering intimate, direct channels of communication. As we shift toward hyper-personalisation, it’s clear that consumers crave real, authentic connections in a sea of digital noise. 📉 Data-Driven Creativity: Fintech marketing isn’t just about creativity. Pair it with data-driven insights and you’ve got a heady mix. Understanding platform roles, optimising campaigns, and experimenting with new formats like short-form video are critical to staying ahead. 🎟️ Events are Back: Trust and authenticity will dominate in 2025, and events are back in a big way as people crave real-world connections amidst the digital noise. The shift to in-person interactions is proving to be a crucial strategy for building trust and standing out in an oversaturated digital space. 🔥 Key Takeaway: Stay bold, stay human, and keep pushing boundaries. Big thanks to everyone who joined and shared their expertise Abba Newbery | Mariette Ferreira | Sinead Lanyon | Elena Assimakopoulos | Shameer Sachdev | Laura Watkins | Tom Davies Ian Horne - fantastic moderating - you rocked 💥 Fintech B2B Marketing Community thanks for your support as always :-) #FintechInnovation #AIinMarketing #FutureProof #InfluencerStrategy #FintechFringe #RiseByBarclays #Marketing2025 #GrowthHacking

🎓 It was back to school yesterday with a full classroom as we delivered another insightful "Rise & Shine" session courtesy of the fine folks at Rise, created by Barclays! This latest episode focused on regulatory compliance as a core driver of growth for scaling fintechs. Such an important and serious topic but delivered with so much humour! Who would've thought compliance experts could be such a hoot! 🤣 Some great takeaways from our speakers... 🗣 "The journey to a banking licence is not just about compliance—it's about proving that you're ready to grow and take on bigger markets," said Chris Hill, Fox Williams. 🗣 "Building strong compliance processes from the outset protects not only your business but your customers too," remarked Alison Donnelly, fscom. 🗣 "Compliance is not just about ticking boxes; it's about embedding good governance that scales with your business," said Charles Kerrigan, CMS UK. 🗣 "A robust compliance culture ensures that fintechs can scale while managing risks effectively," stated Neil Makwana, Leaman Crellin. 🗣 "Risk management isn't just a back-office function—it's a core part of scaling a fintech responsibly," said Iain Armstrong, ComplyAdvantage. 🗣 "Proactively managing relationships with regulators helps fintechs avoid costly missteps later on," said Gerard Hurley, Bound. 🗣 "Good governance and accountability are non-negotiable when dealing with regulators," remarked Willem Wellinghoff, Ecommpay. 🗣 "Navigating regulatory frameworks across different regions requires meticulous planning and alignment with both local and global standards," explained John Bratowicz, ClearToken. Some great takeaways from today's Rise & Shine event where we focused on the key factors to consider for fintechs planning their US Expansion. Big thanks to the lovely folk at Rise, created by Barclays for hosting and Mark Stimpfig from Go To Market Global and Jasmine Baker, MBE from London & Partners for excellent moderating. We'll be sharing a deeper dive on our speakers top tips in a follow-up article next week but here are some salient points that really stood out: ➡ "Think Global from Day 1. This global mindset massively influenced how we built our tech stack. We saved substantial amounts of time with regulation and could engage with US financial institutions much more rapidly because of this." Simon Finch, Chief Strategy Officer, Floww ➡ "Consumer attitude to money is totally different, the economy runs on credit, from a risk perspective its a very different mindset to the UK. The same market entry strategy is unlikely to work. You need to adapt" Valentina Kristensen, Corporate Affairs Director, OakNorth ➡ "Many companies already trading in the US may have a sales tax liability that they are unaware of that can lead to significant, unexpected financial outlay. You can have a liability for all taxes in the US even if you are not a US company." Thomas Wells, Senior Manager R&D, Frazier & Deeter ➡ "You have to get comfortable with networking. It's the air they breathe in the US and deals don't get done unless you meet people on the ground" Oliver Calma, CFA, Managing Director, BCRemit ➡ "Partnership with US business is key, it brings credibility, allows you to tap into a network and establish traction quicker. Invest in building relationships with banks, payment processors and other fintechs that complement. Don't go it alone." Shaul David, Fintech Adviser, former Head of Banking, Railsr ➡ "Working with dedicated accelarator programmes like Grow London has been a vital part of our expansion planning. Their market access, partner network and dedicated support has been vital in supporting our US expansion" Zhanet Zaharieva, Ph.D., Co-founder and COO of Quantum Dice Our next event takes place on Sept 05 and will tackle why Regulation should be your friend and how essential it is to scaling success as evidenced with the recent banking license granted to Revolut. #riseandshine #fintechfringe #homeoffintech #fintechevent #ukfintech #usexpansion
