The Society attended the Reserve Forces' and Cadets' Association for Greater London Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Awards 2024 ceremony last night. What an occasion! We were honoured that our work for our members and the wider military community has been recognised in this award. We are fully committed to being an advocate for the Armed Forces Pension Schemes, to providing guidance to our members, and to increasing awareness of military pensions through education. This recognition celebrates the work the Society does and demonstrates our support to defence and the armed forces community, and to the #ArmedForcesCovenant. #GoldERS24
Thursday, 31st October, Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Awards 2024 took place in the Long Room at the Honourable Artillery Company, City of London honouring 24 London-based organisations. Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, the Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London attended the event as the keynote speaker and awarded the organisations along with representation from the tri-service: AVM Ranald Munro CB CBE TD VR DL (Commandant General of the RAuxAF and Chair of Greater London RFCA), Captain Paul Hill RD RNR (Assistant Head Reserves, UK Strategic Command and Chair of City RFCA) and Lieutenant Colonel Darren Johnston (SO1 Engagement at the London District HQ). The 2024 Gold ERS Awards showcased the commitment of 24 organisations to supporting the Armed Forces community. These awards are a testament to their dedication to hiring, training, and championing service members and veterans. Achieving the Gold Award is a significant milestone, symbolising an organisation’s exceptional support and advocacy for the Armed Forces community and veterans’ employment. To be awarded a gold recognition from the Ministry of Defence, organisations must provide 10 extra paid days leave for Reservists, and have supportive HR policies in place for Reservists, veterans, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and the spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces. During the awards ceremony, each organisation was thoughtfully paired with a song that reflected their business function, adding a creative and fun element to the event. The playlist can be found on the link in the comments. - Images can be downloaded on the link in the comments. - The award not only distinguishes an organisation’s commitment to the Armed Forces community but also sets a strong example for other businesses to follow suit. We are so very grateful to have received this generous grant from The Veterans' Foundation, who help their partner organisations by supporting them to deliver life-changing projects through their grant award scheme. This support will enable us to continue our valuable Roadshow programme, helping members of the Armed Forces community to better understand their pension and guiding them to take ownership of any related decisions. Once again, a huge thank you! #ArmedForces #Veterans #MilitaryCommunity
Thousands of current and former armed forces personnel, and their families, are expected to attend hundreds of free pensions roadshows in a project supported by a Veterans’ Foundation grant. The grant has been awarded to the Forces Pensions Society to fund roadshows across the UK and overseas, to help serving, service leavers, veterans, and their families, understand their pensions and get advice and guidance on their pension rights and benefits. Roadshow Manager, Colonel Rob Morris, said: “We are grateful to the Veterans’ Foundation for its support of the roadshow programme. “More than 250 people attended three briefings in the last week alone indicating the value and interest in guidance with pensions. We are still taking bookings for 2024 roadshows and will be running the scheme into 2025.” The Forces Pensions Society is a not-for-profit organisation that provides pension information and guidance. It is also a campaigning body and watchdog that protects against changes in legislation that may negatively impact those who are serving or have served. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/efwrRJUB
