Two businesses connecting the Borders.🙌 Last week we welcomed John Lamont MP to the Galashiels Transport Interchange to celebrate connecting over 500 businesses to the GoFibre network, one of those being Borders Buses, a key player in regional transport. Speaking to Paul Borthwick, Operations and Systems Supervisor at Borders Buses, we heard how their reliable, lightning-fast broadband connection had a HUGE boost on day-to-day operations and capabilities - crucial in today's fast-paced digital world. Sam Calvert, GoFibre's Chief Revenue Officer, attended the visit and commented on the impact and importance of a first-class broadband connection for local businesses like Borders Buses: “GoFibre and Borders Buses are joining forces to keep people connected in the Borders – whether digitally, or getting out and about. As a company rooted in the Borders, it’s incredibly rewarding to witness the positive impact our broadband service has had on a cornerstone business like Borders Buses. “GoFibre’s mission is to deliver reliable, high-speed internet to underserved communities, and this partnership with Borders Buses illustrates how robust digital infrastructure can transform everyday operations. We are dedicated to supporting local businesses empowering them with the essential tools they need to thrive in today’s digital world, demonstrated by our success in reaching out to business.” #GoFibre #Broadband #ConnectingCommunities #ScottishBorders

Ultra-fast, ultra-capable full fibre broadband is digging its way across Scotland & the North of England. #GopherIt
About us
GoFibre is a leading independent Scottish broadband provider and network builder, focused on rural and market towns up and down the East Coast. GoFibre was founded in 2017 in the Scottish Borders town of Duns, to address the need for faster broadband in rural areas, initially as a wireless broadband provider. The company secured a large investment in early 2022 from Gresham House plc’s sustainable infrastructure fund, BSIF, to accelerate its rollout of full-fibre broadband throughout Scotland and the north of England, enabling the company to deliver connectivity in forgotten areas and address the UK’s digital divide. At the end of 2023 GoFibre’s full fibre broadband was available to over 31 towns and villages across Aberdeenshire, Angus, Fife, East Lothian and the Borders - as well as in the north of England in Teesdale and Northumberland. Customers rate GoFibre as excellent on Trustpilot and the company invests a significant amount of time, energy and funding into supporting local charities and community projects via the GoFurther fund. #GopherIt

We're proud to expand our commitment to grassroots rugby in Scotland, and women's sports in particular, by becoming the lead kit sponsor of the newly-formed Borders Girl's Rugby team. Connecting girls across the Borders, the team gives them a fantastic opportunity to compete, play at a higher level, and progress within their local area.🙌 As the season kicked off at the weekend, Rachel Hancock (Sales Director at GoFibre) visited the team and presented them with their brand-new kit, met some of the talented young players, and solidified our support ahead of the season. #GoFibre #FullFibre #Broadband #ConnectingCommunities #GrassrootsRugby #ScottishBorders

Our locally-based team welcomed Dave Doogan, MP for Angus and Perthshire Glens, to one of our network builds in Forfar this week, where we demonstrated how our network is constructed and its transformative impact – already being felt by both residents and businesses in the area. With the town’s build set to wrap up by September 2024, over 6,000 homes and businesses in Forfar will soon have access to our ultra-fast and reliable broadband! Dave Doogan, MP for Angus and Perthshire Glens, said: “It was great to see the progress that GoFibre have made with their full fibre broadband network in Forfar. Many communities here in Angus and Perthshire Glens have been overlooked by traditional broadband companies leaving them with poor connections that are a pain for households and a real problem for local businesses trying to compete. “The work that GoFibre are doing will provide thousands of homes and businesses with hugely improved broadband and will make a meaningful difference to so many people’s lives here locally.” With only 35%* of homes in rural Scotland having access to full fibre broadband, the completion of our build in Forfar, alongside the expansion in Montrose and Kirriemuir we’re taking leaps and bounds in our mission to improve digital connectivity and bridge the digital divide in Scotland. #GoFibre #FullFibre #Broadband #Forfar

We’ve given movie nights in Teesdale a BIG boost with our ultra-fast full fibre network! With nearly 4,000 rural premises ready to connect in Teesdale, the community is starting to experience the brilliant benefits of ultra-fast broadband as part of the UK Government’s Project Gigabit.⚡ One of the first to be connected was Mickleton Cinema Club. The fantastic neighbourhood hub is now reaping the benefits of an ultra-fast and reliable connection. David Hutchinson, Chairman of Mickleton Village Hall and Owner of Durham Dales Holiday Cottages, Lightning Signs Printing, and Mickleton Service Station, said: "The impact of GoFibre’s ultrafast broadband on our community has been nothing short of transformative. As a small business owner, poor broadband was horrendous and made it difficult to run operations efficiently. Thanks to GoFibre and the UK Government, I now have reliable and fast internet connections, which have significantly improved the operational efficiency of my businesses and enhanced customer satisfaction.” Neil Conaghan , Chief Executive Officer, GoFibre, said: “We are thrilled to see the benefits that our full fibre broadband is bringing to Mickleton. This technology will have a lasting, positive impact on the lives of the residents, from enhancing local business operations and boosting economic growth to improving social inclusion and community engagement.” Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/e5c_SYGh Department for Science, Innovation and Technology #ConnectingCommunities #GoFibre #FullFibre #Broadband
