From Dragon's Den to market leader🔥 In last week's UKTN podcast, Timo Boldt spoke to Jane Wakefield about pitching Gousto on the Dragons Den in 2013 and how the business uses technology to fuel growth, whilst staying dedicated to our customer and purpose. 🥗 Investing in tech has helped us build a market leading product. From the most meal choice to faster delivery, all at grate value. If you put your customer at the heart of your decision making to build a product you know they'll love, they will stay with you. 💷 Leaning on AI keeps us aligned to our purpose. We optimise menus for healthier eating and AI forecasting means we operate with minimal food waste. AI also helped us keep prices as low as possible for customers during the cost of living crisis. Lots has happened since the Dragons Den appearance in 2013 and there's lots to be proud of. But we're super excited about the huge opportunity ahead as we continue to innovate our product for customers and eat up more of the 1bn meal opportunity in the UK.

We’ve been proud partners with FareShare UK since 2020, helping to redistribute surplus food from our fulfilment centres to those who need it most. Now, we’re taking our partnership further by supporting leadership development at FareShare with funds from Gousto’s apprenticeship levy. This will help FareShare managers take part in Corndel's Leadership and Management Diploma, giving them the skills to lead strong teams and continue to make an impact in the fight against food waste. We’re really excited to take this next step with FareShare and continue making a positive difference for people and the planet! 🌍🌍

How to Work with Neurodiverse Colleagues: Insights and Tips from Our Team Did you know that 80% of neurodiverse people in the workplace feel more productive when they are interested in their work and given tasks that play to their strengths? So, how can we create an environment that allows everyone to thrive? George Peckham, Harriet Knight and Rhys Stawiska shared their personal experiences of overcoming challenges and harnessing the unique superpowers that come with being neurodivergent. Here are their top tips for fostering a supportive and productive work environment: 1. Structure is Key: Regular check-ins and using apps like Trello, Notes, and Calendar are fantastic ways to keep track of daily workloads. These tools provide clarity and help maintain focus. 📝 2. Embrace Creative Projects: Neurodiversity often brings fresh perspectives and out-of-the-box thinking. As George puts it, “We’re quite literally wired differently.” Involving neurodiverse colleagues in creative projects can unlock innovative solutions and get the best out of these teammates. 🧠 3. Create Space: The office can be overwhelming with all its stimuli. If you see a colleague working quietly with headphones on, it’s not about ignoring others; it’s about zoning into their work. Allow them the space to zone out of the surrounding environment and into the task at hand. 🎧 4. Longer Deadlines: Quick turnarounds can lead to panic and “mind blanking". Setting work with enough time to complete it can be a huge help. 💻 These insights are just the beginning. Have we missed anything? #Neurodiversity #InclusiveWorkplace

AI is the secret sauce to our Finance, Legal and Risk team’s success. 🤫 They’ve been boosting productivity and taking a deeper look into our financial data with a little help from tools like ChatGPT, freeing up a lot more time to focus on strategy and the work that really drives impact. Here’s how you can jump on the AI train too... 1) Say yes to automation: Start by pinpointing routine tasks that take up a lot of time. Leaving these to AI can lead to a boost in productivity straight away. 2) Invest in your team: Making sure your team is properly trained and comfortable using ChatGPT will help them leverage the tool's capabilities, including effective prompting techniques to get the most accurate and useful responses. 3) Clean up your act: To truly harness the power of ChatGPT, you'll need to provide access to the right data. This means integrating comprehensive, up-to-date, clean data sets that are updated regularly to reflect the latest information. 4) Secure your data: Keep your security measures up to scratch and make sure ChatGPT complies with all your company’s data protection policies. Enterprise ChatGPT is our choice. 5) The limit does exist: ChatGPT is a powerful tool, but it has its limitations. It can’t access live data, has biases inherited from training, could lead to potential errors and is dependent on relevant prompts. Human oversight is key to review and validate the insights. Hungry for more? FP&A Analyst Katie Ho takes a deeper dive into how Gousto's Finance, Legal and Risk team harness the power of AI.

Sustainability champions Abigail Ryan and Pippa Robinson are Co-Founders of the Gousto Sustainability Club. Hugely passionate about the subject, they launched the club to encourage more learning and bring even more sustainable practices into the daily life of working at Gousto. Their regular roundtable sessions cover food waste at home, sustainable diets, carbon footprinting, slow fashion and some rather surprising sustainability facts... Did you know that Peanut shells can provide enough power to keep an entire town in Argentina running?🥜 The team is also shining a light on our amazing suppliers who are a huge part of our sustainability story at Gousto. We've hosted awesome talks from our friends over at Tony's Chocolonely and from the Peanut Butter people at ManiLife | B Corp™ who spoke this week about building a company with a long term view on impact and real benefits for their community. Let's continue to inspire and be inspired, drive positive change and champion sustainability in everything we do. 💪🌿
