An energetic and thoughtful architecture practice, crafting buildings with a sense of place and purpose.
About us
Started in 2002 GPAD is an award winning architecture & interior design practice based in Hackney, London. We work across a wide range of building types, including housing, private residential, offices and mixed-use developments. We take a design led approach producing simple elegant design, whilst being sympathetic to each site and its context. Getting to know our clients as well as their approach and aims is at the heart of the practices’ ethos and good communication is a big part of the service that we offer. We strive to ensure value and results, but with our personal touch. Whilst the majority of our projects are focused in London we carry out projects across the UK; including Leeds, Reading, Cardiff and Bristol.

Planning submission for four new homes in the Winchmore Hill Green Conservation Area, Enfield. The design builds upon a previous approval for a single house, optimising the design to create four new dual aspect homes; designed with passive principles and benchmarked against Leti targets. A contextual material palette, contemporary detailing and carefully thought through landscaping design seeks to enhance the local area and street scape, building on the Green's rich heritage. The design seeks to maximise the quality of the homes and value of the site, whilst designing for an efficient construction that prioritises efficiency. Following approval (fingers crossed) the homes will be delivered in Spring 2026. Detailed design works are currently under way. Image by Blackpoint Design Ltd. Second approval of the week! We're pleased to receive planning approval for Pellatt Road - the transformation of an underutilised piece of land opposite Preston Road Sports Ground into a bold and characterful new residential development in the heart of Wembley. The low-energy proposal features 13 generously proportioned dual-aspect homes that widen the offer available locally and support a community of all ages. Homes will be environmentally responsible, with carefully selected enduring materials, super-insulated and with on-site renewables to deliver sustainable homes that are cheap to run. Huge congratulations to the team - Caswell&Dainow match landscape architects MJP Planning. Visual by HAZE viz https://lnkd.in/eGwevszY

Planning Approved - Colmore Row, Birmingham. We're pleased to share that we have received planning approval for the retention, refurbishment & celebration of an existing heritage site to create exemplary office retrofit in the heart of Birmingham's City Centre. Architecturally, the design improves accessibility whilst maintaining and enhancing the existing corner entrance, with a reception space that grounds the building within its context. The elegant interior draws inspiration from characteristic 19th and 20th century civic and commercial buildings of the area with the introduction of the reception’s vaulted ceiling accentuating the existing high arch windows at ground level and supporting the new levelling out required for the first floor. Great to start the year on site at New Road. This scheme creates nine distinct family homes nestled within protected woodlands in Digswell Village, outside Welwyn Garden City. Read more about the project on our website: https://lnkd.in/esuMNGpw
After escaping the downpour last week, Rose Beresford James Pavely and myself headed to Digswell, in Welwyn for a site visit on our New Road scheme. It was brilliant to see the progress by the Crossville Ltd team and how the mature woodland surrounding the site has been carefully preserved to create the natural boundary. At this stage, you can really appreciate the undulating topography of the site, with foundations now taking shape. The low-carbon proposal features nine generously proportioned family homes that widen the offer available locally and support a community of all ages. Looking forward to seeing how the site progresses over the coming months, especially with the timber frame installation planned for this summer! GPAD + Eckersley O'Callaghan
