Keynote Spotlight – POoR Collective (Power Out of Restriction)💛 Who gets to design our spaces? 🏙️ At Future Perspectives 2025, Larry Botchway (POoR Collective) challenged us to rethink who designs the spaces we share. With less than 1% of UK architects identifying as Black, he emphasised the importance of inclusion in every stage of the design process. Through co-design projects, POoR Collective empowers young people to shape their environments - from playgrounds on Tilos Island to public seating in Becontree. By empowering local communities to contribute to the process, the built environment can become more personal and solve problems that an outside voice may not consider. 💡 Key message: Larry’s keynote left attendees with a powerful message: when given the voice, knowledge, and opportunity, we can ALL be part of shaping the spaces we share. #InclusiveDesign #FuturePerspectives2025 #SocialImpact #UrbanDesign #CommunityEngagement

A big thank you to historian Jeanne Rathbone, who led us on a walk around Battersea on Saturday as part of the community engagement series for our Transforming Falcon Road project. We had perfect weather for visiting places of local industrial heritage (eg Battersea Enamel, Price's Candles), whilst hearing stories about inspiring women of Battersea (eg Violet Piercy, Elsa Lanchester, Sarah Mayer).
