🚢 Continuously improving the service we offer to customers is our priority. So too is working hard to reduce our carbon emissions. Our work with PurpleSector is helping us to achieve both. Last October, we were awarded a Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom and Innovate UK grant for our Smart Efficient Automated Scheduling (SEAS) project. Using their Formula 1-derived tools and techniques to gather and analyse our duty cycle data, PurpleSector will provide insights into how we can enhance efficiency and sustainability. ⏱️ It’s early days for this pioneering project but, in recognition of our shared attitude and ambition, we’ve recently extended our partnership. The team at PurpleSector is now advising us as we explore clean, powertrain technologies for our port operations vessels. 💻 IT Support Engineer Sean Brattan (right) and Sustainability Manager Linzi Jobber (left) were delighted to visit the #OpenRoad SOS bus to donate 14 pre-loved laptops and desk top computers to the charity. 🚌 The SOS buses are a familiar site in cities and towns across #Essex as they support emergency services with the #nighttimeeconomy. In addition, the SOS buses lend support to local clinical services as they are often used to deliver vaccination programmes. 👍 Sarah Wright (second left with Open Road IT Manager Jeff Keating), CEO, Open Road commented: “The computers will benefit our clients greatly as they will be located both on the SOS buses and in our bases across Essex. "They will be invaluable to allow clients to access online opportunities, courses and information. 🛳️ Getting ahead of #StormEowyn, the Ever Aeon arrived safely on its maiden call to the Port of Felixstowe yesterday, under the expert pilotage of our Senior Pilot Simon Browne AFNI and our partner agencies. Here's some quick stats on this megamax vessel: 🔹 400 metre length 🔹 Capacity for 24,000 TEU (twenty foot equivalent containers) 🔹 61 metre beam at draft of 12.4 metres, and displacing 209,000 tonnes of water at that draft 🔹 15,590 metres squared wind area (this is the bit the Pilot sees) 🔹 On route from Rotterdam 🤝 Simon was delighted to present the ship's captain (pictured here) with a commemorative plaque to honour the Ever Aeon's arrival. 🌬️ Safe winds for your next journey Ever Aeon! ⚓ Another week, another maiden call to the UK's busiest port at Felixstowe! 🤝 Senior Pilot David Thurston was delighted to present the master of the MSC C. Montaine with one of our first call plaques on Saturday. The vessel arrived alongside at 0200 with a deep draft of 16m, having departed from India 26 days earlier. 🛳️ And thanks to the quick work of our partner agencies, the MSC C.
