We recently topped out at our 840 Old Kent Road site for Metropolitan Thames Valley, with members of the project team and representatives from Southwark Council gathering at the site to mark this important milestone. We were particularly pleased to welcome Cllr Helen Dennis, Cabinet Member for New Homes. This scheme will provide 171 new affordable flats in two blocks comprising 21 and 13 storeys respectively – this will include 58 at London affordable rent; 81 shared ownership units and 32 at London living rent. The development also includes approximately 16,900 square feet of retail space on the ground floor, which will rehouse the existing Aldi store to a high-quality modernised unit.     The topping out ceremony enabled us to recognise the team for all their hard work and commitment to date and to showcase our fantastic progress to project stakeholders. Our team continue to make excellent progress on Phase Two of this exciting mixed use residential development. An update on ‘The Store House’ in Leeds, a large-scale PBSA scheme we are currently delivering on behalf of Manner. The Briggate scheme comprises 369 en-suite bed spaces made up of 238 3-8 bed clusters and 131 studios. Plans also include 3,000sqm of flexible-use retail floorspace at ground and basement levels, as well as 527sqm of thoughtfully designed and highly specified amenity spaces. The concrete frame is almost complete and we are casting the last 50% of roof slab. SFS is Installed to 7th floor, bathroom pods are loaded out to the 6th floor, windows installation is ongoing on the 5th floor, and cladding sub panelling is installed to the 6th floor. Dryline first fix is ongoing on the 4th Floor, and M&E first fix is ongoing on the bottom 3 floors. It’s been a huge team effort to get to this stage and we are delighted with progress to date.  We look forward to sharing more updates as the project progresses. Drainage and service infrastructure is almost complete and internal M&E has commenced. HG Construction appointed to 1,014 bed Manchester PBSA Scheme Leading UK contractor HG Construction has been named as the main contractor on a Manchester-based purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme for developer Greystar. One Medlock Street will comprise 1,014 high quality student rooms across 37 storeys, with access to amenity space at ground, first, eleventh and thirty-seventh floors to promote the health and wellbeing of the residents.  The scheme will deliver 13,000 sq ft of resident amenities in total, including a gym, yoga studio, quiet study areas, meeting spaces, screening rooms, shared lounges and games rooms.  The development will incorporate sustainability features including a green living roof, solar PV panels and sustainable materials. Plans also include an 11-storey public art installation across 30 pre-cast panels.  Located in the Deansgate regeneration area, One Medlock is an 11-minute walk from Manchester Metropolitan University. The scheme is also a 20-minute walk from both the main and north campuses of The University of Manchester – two of the UK’s most populous universities. HG Construction will be internally delivering the concrete frame and piling on the scheme, which is due for completion in 2028.
