  • We were recently joined by our partner Hightown to celebrate progress onsite at Broadwater, where 128 new homes and a central communal green space are set to be delivered in Welwyn Garden City. This development is set to enhance community infrastructure with one and two-bedroom apartments that will support the evolving needs of local families and contribute to the area's vibrancy. In line with our commitment to sustainability and supporting local employment, Broadwater will feature modern design principles and eco-friendly elements, while also generating opportunities for local businesses. Robert Jack, Regional Director of Hill Group, added: “Reaching the ‘golden brick’ stage of this much needed affordable housing marks a pivotal moment in the construction of this significant development for Welwyn Garden City. Hill has a strong partnership with Hightown and Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council and this project not only creates vital homes for the community, but also new communal spaces for residents to enjoy. ”

Another historic moment for Harlow... 🙌The construction of one of the biggest council house schemes in Harlow for more than 30 years has moved closer to completion after a topping out ceremony was held last week 🏗️ 🏢 A 24-home apartment block on Perry Road is one of several council housebuilding schemes being developed by the Harlow Regeneration Partnership which is a joint venture between the council and Hill Group UK The partnership is delivering hundreds of new council homes across the town including three schemes in Staple Tye The development is on the former Lister House site which had previously been derelict for several years The development will eventually comprise of 20 two-bedroom apartments and 4 one-bedroom apartments The apartments will be some of the most energy efficient homes in Harlow with solar panels and homes powered by air source heat pumps, helping to keep energy bills down. The development will also include commercial space Once complete all homes will be allocated to Harlow families on the Harlow Housing Needs Register Celebrating construction reaching the highest point at the development, the topping out ceremony was attended by representatives from Harlow Council and The Hill Group including Dan Swords, the Leader of Harlow Council, and Tom Hill, Managing Director of The Hill Group. 💬 Councillor Dan Swords, Leader of the Council, said: "We are on a mission to transform Harlow's housing, renew our neighbourhoods and rebuild our town and schemes like this will help us deliver these missions. Our housebuilding programme will provide all kinds of homes from apartments to bungalows to houses to meet the different housing needs of Harlow residents. “Since work started last summer the rate of construction on this site has been remarkable. I was delighted to join our partners The Hill Group to mark this important milestone as construction reaches the highest point. This is one of three housebuilding schemes in Staple Tye being delivered by this partnership which will not only provide much-needed new council homes for Harlow families but will help transform this area.” 💬 Tom Hill, Managing Director at The Hill Group, said: “Perry Road is one of the first three projects to be delivered through the Harlow Regeneration Partnership and it’s an exciting moment to see our joint vision come to fruition – regenerating a derelict site into 24 much-needed new homes for Harlow Council and a brand-new commercial facility. Reaching the highest point of construction here is an important milestone – we are proud to be creating genuinely affordable and extremely sustainable homes for Harlow’s community. We look forward to delivering many more projects like this one in the future.”

We're proud to foster a culture where ambition is nurtured, skills are sharpened, and careers are elevated for everyone! In the second instalment celebrating International Women's Day, we look at two more female colleges that continue to break barriers and inspire the next generation. Skye Maclean – Trainee Site Manager Skye has always set her sights on the industry, from studying construction at a specialist engineering college to joining Hill's Management Trainee Apprenticeship scheme. "I was the only woman in the office when I started, which was daunting at first. But I was never treated differently—I felt supported from day one. Balancing work, university, and my responsibilities as a carer for my mum is challenging, but Hill has helped me every step of the way." Amelia Hayward-Dunn – Customer Service Manager From apprentice to mentor, Amelia’s journey at Hill is one of continuous growth and giving back. Since 2016, she has risen through the ranks, becoming a champion for diversity and a mentor to aspiring professionals—particularly women entering the construction industry. "Supporting and empowering others has been a defining part of my career. Since 2022, I've mentored 19 candidates through the Women into Construction partnership, 90% of whom have been from BAME backgrounds. Seeing them thrive is the most rewarding part of my role." Thank you to our female workforce this #IWD2025 for helping us drive the construction industry forward. ***Image 1 Skye Maclean ***Image 2 Amelia Hayward-Dunn #IWD #WomenInConstruction #EqualityInConstruction

This International Women's Day, we're highlighting some of the remarkable women at Hill who have shaped our industry. In our two-part series celebrating #IWD2025 - we look at some of our inspiring female colleagues, their personal ambitions and their perspectives on the culture of inclusivity and support that defines Hill. Daniella Appiah-Kubi– Trainee Site Manager, was introduced to Hill at a school careers presentation, and a subsequent work experience placement opened her eyes to the dynamism of the industry, the tangible impact of building communities, and the rewarding nature of seeing projects come to life. "When I first got introduced to Hill, it was through a school presentation. They came in to talk about who they are, the job prospects in the construction industry, the application process, and how to gain access to the field. At that time, construction wasn’t something I had considered, but after gaining some work experience, I quickly realised how much I loved it. The dynamic environment, meeting new people every day, and seeing projects come to life really made me fall for the industry. I was fortunate to have an interview with Hill, which led to me being offered work experience with them." Salma Khan – Social Value & Community Manager Social impact is at the heart of how we approach each community at Hill, and Salma ensures that our commitment to excellence goes beyond bricks and mortar. Since joining in 2022, she has played a pivotal role in fostering connections with local communities, creating job opportunities, and delivering transformative initiatives. "No two days are the same in my role, and that’s what I love. Working at Hill has given me a platform to champion diversity and inclusion, not just within the company but in the wider communities we engage with." Please join us this International Women's Day as we celebrate the trailblazing women at the forefront of change. ***Image 1 Daniella Appiah-Kubi ***Image 2 Salma Khan #EqualityInConstruction #WomenInConstruction
