What does the UK NZC Buildings Standard mean for workplace design, fit-out, and leasing? How will the use of refrigerants in heating be affected? Will MEP systems be replaced less often during fit-outs? Will ambitious metrics drive a better understanding of how buildings function? Now the pilot Standard is being tested on projects that our teams are working on, Thom Bone looks at the impact it will have on the workplace sector. 💡Read our latest insight: https://lnkd.in/e5uApY6c

We’ve been speaking to experts from across the data centre sector to look at the opportunity for these essential structures to become more socially integrated in their local communities. Our report, DC Society: Putting Community into Data Centre Thinking launches today and finds that recent data centre infrastructure developments have been creating jobs and attracting business investment, especially low-latency applications such as e-sports, economic growth and innovation. But could they do more for local communities? To find out more, click here: https://lnkd.in/eATvBi4C Do let us know what you think by commenting below. If you’d like to speak to our Data Centre Mission Critical team, please contact Derek Main, for our Societal Insights team, please contact Paul Hanna. Delighted that our lighting team has been shortlisted for two darc awards. If you work in the lighting design industry, we’d love it if you’d take a moment and vote for our entries. Links can be found below, alongside a bit more info about what we’ve done. Voting closes on 28th March 2025. 20 Air Street, London (shortlisted in the Structures – Low Budget category) This project has seen us working alongside architects Orms for client The Crown Estate to refit an exterior scheme to be more in keeping with the local character and to fit within the Regent Street design narrative. We designed a custom art deco style ribbed glass luminaire to complement the existing metalwork and grandiosity of the façade (in collaboration with ORMS and DAL); reduced luminaire quantity from existing scheme to minimise light pollution and cut energy costs as well reducing maintenance risk for future renovations https://lnkd.in/eag8dZ7p Le Grand Hôtel Cayré, St Germain, Paris (shortlisted in the Places – Low budget category) Drawing inspiration from the artistic neighbourhood of St Germain, we worked hand in hand with interior designer #MichaelisBoydAssociates for client, InterGlobe Hotels to revitalise this hotel with Parisian chic without veering into the cliché. The lighting design enhances the architectural details and creates a warm atmosphere throughout the hotel, from the grand lobby to the guest rooms and even the staircase gets the bespoke lighting treatment. https://lnkd.in/e3_hzJDQ Congratulations to all the other shortlisted entries which you can view here: https://lnkd.in/eiA5dS8A #lightingdesign #darcawards2024 #bespokelighting
