We provide more than 400 difference services to our 260,000 residents and our population continuing to rise. Hull is a great place to live, learn, work, study, visit and invest. In Hull we are proud of our free museums, Ferens Art Gallery and Hull History Centre, which togther welcome 1.35 million visitors in 2017. As Yorkshire's Maritime City, we are developing an extensive redevelopment of our significant historic maritime assets to support our asipiration of creating a world-class visitor destination. Since 2013 there has been almost £3bn of private and public investment in the city, including £300m investment in cultural infrastructure, the £80m regeneration of the Fruit Market and the £25m public realm improvements. The recent review of the council ward boundaries by the Local Government Boundary Commission (LGBC) will see a reduction in the number of wards and councillors. Following the local elections in May, the city will be represented by 57 councillors, two less that there are now and have 21 wards, two less that there are now following the local elections. HUGE news coming out of Hull this morning with the announcement that Coldplay are heading to the city next year. Listed as their only European dates in 2025, fans will be able to see Coldplay live at Sewell Group Craven Park Stadium in Hull on 18 and 19 August, as well as London’s Wembley Stadium. Tickets will go on sale on Friday 27th September at 9am via TicketMaster. Hull KR Chief Executive, Paul Lakin, said: "We are truly delighted to bring the world’s biggest band to East Hull. Sewell Group Craven Park will be rocking for two consecutive nights for the biggest show the city has ever seen. "We can’t wait to proudly represent the whole region and North of England, as part of the only European dates announced outside of London. "The stadium is no stranger to big acts with Hull’s very own Beautiful South selling out 25,000 tickets in our 2017 City of Culture year, alongside other major concerts from The Who, Little Mix, Rod Stewart and Tom Jones. "However this is on another level, with Coldplay bringing their full, and same production that will be inside Wembley stadium, nothing will be scaled back. "We have a fantastic relationship with SJM Concerts, and we’d like to place on record our thanks to them for making this happen, for what is set to be two very special nights." Leader of Hull City Council, Mike Ross, said: "This announcement is fantastic for Hull. "To have a world-renowned act such as Coldplay performing in Hull really demonstrates how the city has become a culture and tourism destination. "I have no doubt that residents right across the City will be extremely excited by this huge news. "Whilst I am sure everyone who attends will enjoy themselves, we also hope the city benefits economically and more whilst Coldplay joins us in Hull."
