ICMIF Supporting Member Peak Re has announced the key findings of its flagship 2024 Asia Middle-Class Consumer Survey. In the 2024 study, Peak Re focused on the role of family, the need for old age care, the rising importance of the women consumer groups, the importance of home insurance and consumers’ experience with #insurance claims. This is the third edition of the survey, and Peak Re says the report delves into the detailed dynamics of risk and insurance behaviour/preferences and it contains valuable insights for insurers who are looking to cater for this growing middle-class market. Rio Uruguay Seguros (RUS) in Argentina has become the latest ICMIF member to join as a member of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), signing the Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI). There are currently 20 ICMIF member organisations that are signatories of the PSI, plus ICMIF itself, which is a Supporting Institution for the PSI. The PSI Initiative is the largest initiative between the United Nations and the global insurance industry with close to 300 members around the world. By joining the PSI, RUS hopes to address ESG risks, and contribute through its activity to sustainable development. At the upcoming ICMIF Biennial Conference #ICMIFConf2024 in Buenos Aires, Belén Gómez from RUS will present in a session on "Sustainability for better performance" that looks at how, for many mutual/cooperative insurers, sustainability is more than adopting sustainable practices to drive positive environmental and social change – it is also good for business. Será un período marcado por la desregulación de la industria y, de consolidarse la estabilidad económica, la oportunidad de tener en nuestro sector un actor relevante como inversor e impulsor de la economía con reglas que nos beneficien a todos y siempre con la premisa de cuidar el patrimonio y bienestar de nuestros asegurados. Creo en la enorme potencia de la articulación para lograr resultados que beneficien no solo al mercado asegurador sino también a nuestros asegurados y a la comunidad. Adrien Couret CEO of Aéma Groupe, the 5th largest insurance group in France, calls for a new #social #contract, acknowledging that the cost of protection will inevitably rise in the future. The challenge is ensuring that this cost remains socially acceptable, and that insurance does not become a means of #exclusion. How can this be prevented ? A redefined contract with society means reinventing the sector’s economic model, by #pooling risks more widely, improving #prevention and rethinking regional planning and territorial cohesion. Is #mutualism better placed than other economic models to meet these challenges?
