As part of a proposed rewilding and wildflower scheme in Wiltshire, various areas chosen by towns and parish councils throughout the county were visited last week. This initiative, known as “Wild about Wiltshire,” aims to improve biodiversity and encourage bees and other pollinators to thrive by adopting a new approach to grass cutting and promoting wildflower growth. To provide expert advice and support for this challenge, Paul Ashman, the Community Engagement Officer at idverde, arranged for Tom Bellamy, the Biodiversity Manager of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, to visit Wiltshire. Tom works as part of a business partnership between the RSPB and idverde, focusing on delivering key objectives from the Park’s Biodiversity Action Plan. idverde, working in partnership with Wiltshire Council, has established a partnership with Southwick Country Park Nature Reserve and the Wiltshire Youth Justice Service as part of our Community Engagement initiatives. This partnership allows young people to carry out their reparation work at the reserve. The ‘Friends’ have been supportive since the first meeting in March, recognising the mutual benefits of this collaboration. To date, two young people have participated, with a third starting shortly, committing to 12 sessions in August and September, each lasting around two hours. As a token of appreciation, idverde presented a certificate to ‘The Friends of Southwick Country Park Nature Reserve’ for their continued support of this project, which we hope will continue well into the future.  Pictured here is Sarah (The Friends), Paul Ashman (idverde Community Engagement Manager) and Veronica Butcher (Young People Support Worker). idverde’s Community Engagement Manager for Wiltshire Council, Paul Ashman, commented: "We were pleased to be able to offer our support to both ‘The Friends of Southwick Country Park Nature Reserve’ and the young people from the Youth Justice Service, the partnership benefit all parties, hopefully bring the young people closer to nature though working at the reserve, all of which contributes to our community works in Wiltshire." #CommunityEngagement #YouthEmpowerment #NatureConservation Wiltshire Council

🌿 Celebrating Community Days with Joe and Blake Gallimore! 🌿 We are excited to share the remarkable efforts of Joe Gallimore and his son Blake, who have been working diligently on the Home Group contract in Newcastle on two assisted living facilities. Their dedication and hard work have made a significant impact on the community. On Wednesday, 7th August, Joe and Blake took on a significant project at Dunelm. They undertook the challenging task of clearing an impressive 9 ton bags of garden waste, digging over borders, and pruning the shrubs. Their hard work transformed the area into a more pleasant and manageable space, showcasing their hands-on involvement and the tangible results of their work. The following week, on 14th August, the team took on another project at the Housing Group. They cleared high vegetation and stumps, picked up litter, and laid down bark with membrane. The transformation was incredible, turning the area into a clean and inviting space. The before-and-after photos truly showcase the hard work and dedication of the team and the significant impact of their work on the community. Well done, Joe and Blake. Your commitment to going above and beyond for the contract is truly commendable. #CommunityHeroes #HomeGroup #Newcastle #TeamWork #MakingADifference

🌿 Reducing Carbon Emissions at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park! 🌿 idverde has taken a green leap by deploying an all-electric £250k eSwingo from Aebi Schmidt. This eco-friendly machine saves up to 158kg of CO2 daily and operates for up to 10 hours on a single charge. 🚜 This move is part of a new deal to reduce carbon emissions at the iconic 560-acre park, which hosted the 2012 London Olympic Games. 🌳 Visitor-Friendly Design: the park’s twisting, winding pathways, tight corners, and aesthetically appealing vistas demanded a sweeper with manoeuvrability and flexibility. 🌿 #GreenSweeping #SustainableSolutions #CleanerTomorrow

We are thrilled to announce significant growth this year in our uptake for our Bromley work placements, with 13 students from different schools and colleges attending from February to July. This increase in student numbers is a promising sign for the future of our work placements. Usually, idverde Bromley takes on about 8 students per year, most of whom come from Bromley Prince's Trust. We have been recognised as one of the Prince's Trust's top work placement providers and were nominated for an award in 2019. This year, we have seen a diverse range of students studying at Capel Manor, including mature students in their 60s. One SEND student grew with confidence during their time with us, and we also saw increased diversity among our students. Having this large number of students over the last five months has given us better insight into working with younger aspiring demographics. It sheds light on how the future of the landscaping industry may look and we are pleased to see the potential moving forward!
