In October, Gabriel Cusato, a representative from the Foundation, met with Debbie King (Chief Executive), Paul Whitmore (Director), and Mike Allott (Community Coordinator) at Plus You Limited's Highpoint Centre in Southampton. Plus You Limited is a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting the community of Thornhill, with a primary aim of driving local regeneration by helping people to help themselves. They value the voices of residents and build successful relationships with other organisations to deliver impactful community projects. The project we are supporting collaborates with Family Support Workers from two local primary schools to reward disadvantaged children who have demonstrated exceptional achievements, whether through excellent school attendance, outstanding work, or exemplary behaviour. As a reward, these students will receive a Family Ticket to the Christmas Pantomime at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton. The project aims to encourage hard work and positive behaviour among students by providing recognition for their efforts. Additionally, this project will allow families to enjoy quality time together outside the home, developing social connections and reducing isolation for children and families who may not frequently interact with others. Georgia Burrell, a representative from the Foundation, recently met with Pauline Rafferty, Trusts Fundraising and Sarah Quarterman, CEO of Cardiac Rehab, one of the recipients of our Spring 2024 funding round. Cardiac Rehab is dedicated to enhancing heart health, fitness and overall wellbeing for individuals across Hampshire who are at risk of or currently managing cardiovascular disease (CVD). While their primary focus is on supporting individuals with or at high risk of CVD, they also offer services for those who have undergone cardiac procedures, are living with heart or pulmonary disease, or have been identified by their GP as high-risk due to conditions like hypertension, obesity, or diabetes. Our funding will help replace outdated gym equipment, some of which is 10 to 20 years old, that is essential to carrying out their exercise-based health programmes. Each year, approximately 750 participants benefit from these programmes, using equipment that’s integral to their fitness and health journeys. The new bikes will support the Health Programme Team’s six specialised exercise programmes, designed to accommodate individuals with a wide range of risk factors, chronic health conditions, comorbidities and varying fitness levels. Lizzie Uzzell and Andy Cowie, members of the Foundation, recently met with Kate English, Community Centre Manager, and Phoebe Smith, Operations Manager of Wickham Community Centre, one of the charities supported in our Spring 2024 funding round. Wickham Community Association operates a large community centre in Wickham, located in one of the most under-resourced areas in the Winchester District. As a hub, the Wickham Community Centre serves the entire Parish of Wickham and its neighbouring areas, hosting over 120 local organisations and providing accessible, affordable spaces for recreational, educational, business and social activities. The funding will support the setup of a sensory room at the centre, creating a safe and engaging space for children with special educational needs (SEN). Resources for SEN activities are limited and often costly in this area. By establishing a dedicated sensory room, the centre can offer regular, affordable sessions that aid in brain development and provide a valuable resource for local families. To learn more about Wickham Community Centre and ways to support, visit their website 👉 https://lnkd.in/eSr84m4q Our Winter funding round is now open, so take a look at our website to find out if your charity could be eligible for funding 👉 https://lnkd.in/euaDVMSj #wickhamcommunitycentre #funding #charity #jckfoundation #charitytuesday

In October, Bernice Flack, a member of our Foundation, met with Jon Cox, Founder and Director and Wayne Solomon, Instructor, along with the rest of the Adventure Plus team. Adventure Plus has been a leader in providing quality adventure experiences to children for over 30 years. Founded in 1990 by Jon and Tessa Cox, Adventure Plus offers adventure holidays, school residential programmes, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, team-building events and a variety of other inspiring activities for young people and adults throughout Oxfordshire and across the UK. The mission of Adventure Plus is to help children and young people reach their potential, make positive life choices and enjoy enriching experiences in the great outdoors. A specialised unit of Adventure Plus, known as Adventure Impact (AIm), works with children who are excluded or at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. Young people are referred individually by schools, social services, or Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) and organisations supporting young people with learning disabilities and childhood trauma. Our grant will enable Adventure Plus to purchase two Infento kits, one Legend kit and one Genius kit, for use with all AIm participants. Infento is the first in the world to create a kit that enables children and adults to work together to build real constructible rides and provide opportunities for young people to develop important skills in critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork. Lewis Jenkins ACA, a member of the Foundation, recently met with Jess Haynes, Digital Services Manager and Anna Hodgson, Charity Director at Clear Sky Children's Charity, to gain further insight about the organisation and the project we are supporting. Clear Sky Children’s Charity, founded in 2010, are leaders in Play & Creative Arts Therapy, dedicated to providing psychological support to children. Working primarily with schools across Oxfordshire and surrounding counties, Clear Sky offers both therapy sessions for children and training for school professionals. Their approach focuses on the power of play, supporting children as they navigate their early experiences and learn how to become the best versions of themselves. We are delighted to provide funding to support five children through 18 one-to-one Play & Creative Arts Therapy sessions. Play & Creative Arts Therapy provides a safe and accepting environment where children can work through difficult emotions and experiences. Clear Sky’s qualified therapists specialise in helping children impacted by challenges such as bereavement, family breakdowns, bullying and domestic abuse. In the past year, Clear Sky has delivered over 2,300 individual therapy sessions, reaching more than 140 children. Thank you to Clear Sky for meeting with us and sharing insight into how our funding will support more children through their Play & Creative Arts Therapy sessions.
