    Journee is hiring! 🎉 We are looking for a passionate Backend Engineer with at least 4+ years experience working with Django and Python. You will ideally have experience with AWS, Docker, and APIs. This person will want to partner with the CTO, CPO and CEO, as well as the Tech, Product and Support teams. You will need to be able to commute to our Bethnal Green office 3 days a week, so the ideal candidate will be based in or near to London. Who are we? 🌎 Journee is a traveltech startup that sends Explorers on surprise adventures. We have a 4.9 TrustPilot score with over 1000 reviews, and are now at a crucial stage of scaling. In line with this aim, we are looking to add a Python/Django expert to our small tech team (currently 1 CTO, and 2 Python gurus). Who are we looking for? 🤔 We're looking for an all-rounder Python/Django expert, based in London, who will work fast on greenfield and brownfield projects across automation, expanding our matchmaking technology, designing and building new features, improving internal systems, building user-facing features, and designing and extending backend architectures by leveraging cloud infrastructure. Anything else I need to know? 💡 The role would require you to be based in London, so you could commute 3 days a week to our office in Bethnal Green.     🌟 Mid/Senior Level Python Developers - we need you! 🌟 We are looking for an all-rounder Python/Django developer to join Journee's Scaling and Automation team. To bring Journee to as many people as possible, we are automating large parts of the customer journey that is traditionally handled manually, all the way from when a potential traveller first hears about us to when they come back from their trip. There are a lot of roles in tech where the consumer is distant and the technical work is undifferentiated between different sectors. ✨ This is not one of those roles. ✨ We’re very close to our travellers and get to share in their journey, and everything we work on is to support that. 🌍 You are - A problem solver with a passion for automation. - Curious, with a strong desire to learn; you want to understand how things work. - An adaptable generalist, capable of finding the balance between speed of delivery and completeness. - A proactive person who wants more than just to be handed pre-defined tasks. 🌎 You Have - Proven experience with Python and Django across multiple projects, as we’re heavy users of Django’s core features. - Willingness to take control, have opinions, and get stuck into a challenge. - Exposure to and enthusiasm for systems design, architecture, and cloud infrastructure. Not a must, but a bonus if you have: - Worked in multiple scaling startups and lean teams. 🌏 What You'll Do - Build out more user-facing features as we ramp the digital experiences we can offer customers who travel with us. This currently encompasses our Journee Passport and various change forms for leads. Next year we will start on an app, continue to offer travellers more flexibility, and offer a new way to receive a proposal. Basic frontend work will be an optional part of this role. - Building new features from scratch and making improvements to our internal systems. - Expanding the capabilities of our Journee matchmaking technology. This software is the beating heart of what we do. Needless to say we’re pretty proud of it, and it can be so much more with your input. - Working with the rest of the team to guide operational efficiencies and external/internal improvements. - Designing and extending backend architectures in a scalable and secure way, leveraging cloud infrastructure. - Bringing software best practices to the table. You will be talking to Explorers daily via WhatsApp, phone and email, solving problems and being the customer-face of Journee. We are a small, lean team, so you will be working closely with the Head of Operations, the Community + Support team, the fully-remote Operations team and the Founders. 🌍 You Are: - Excited to be on the frontline of all customer interactions. You're patient and resilient; talking to customers is the best part of your day! - A true people person and customer-facing roles are for you - An excellent written communicator - you’re a bona fide wordsmith who can create clear, friendly and informative emails. - Exceptional verbal communicator - you love picking up the phone and don't shy away from a voicenote or two. 🌎 You Have: - ~1 years' experience within a customer-facing role. This Senior Product Manager will be an experienced, hands-on product leader, who thrives in lean, ambiguous start ups, has a passion for customer listening and research, and loves managing our talented Product team. 🏝 You Are - Infinitely curious and seasoned at user research. You have strong detective skills and your superpower is customer listening - by understanding users at all stages of the funnel, you find insights hidden in plain sight.
