Thank you to Paul, Kingerlee Ltd and OG Stonemasonry for keeping our 400 hundred and twenty three year old stonework looking fresh for our visitors. Over 1 million tourists come to see the central Bodleian site every year (not to mention 60,000+ Readers for whom this working library is a much-loved study space). Keeping everything in tip-top shape is a big job, and an important responsibility so that visitors can continue to admire these buildings for at least another 400 years.

  • Last Friday, we bid a fond farewell to Colin Botton, Commercial Director, as he retired after an incredible 23 years of dedicated service at Kingerlee. Colin has been a hardworking, integral part of the Kingerlee family and a valued friend to many. His presence, leadership, and positive energy will be greatly missed by all.     On behalf of everyone at Kingerlee, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to Colin as he embarks on this exciting new chapter of his life.    #Retirement | #Kingerlee | #Milestone | #Farewell

  • We are proud to share that we will be supporting four charities this year through a range of efforts such as fundraising and volunteering. These partnerships were chosen by our team via a survey conducted at the end of 2024. Each charity addresses critical issues such as homelessness, mental health, palliative care, education and work placement for young adults with learning difficulties.     Here’s a bit about each charity:     Sobell House – Provides specialist and palliative and end-of-life care to adults living in Oxfordshire with a life-limiting illness and support their family and friends.     Aspire – Supports local people from Oxfordshire into and towards employment and housing, as the most powerful way to break the complex cycles of homelessness, re-offending and poverty.    Yellow Submarine – Supporting young people with learning disabilities from the age of 11, building life skills, confidence, and employability while offering respite for families.    The Lighthouse Club -   The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity’s primary purpose is to provide both financial and welfare support to construction workers and their families.    Look out for more information on how we will be supporting these charities throughout 2025!     #Charity | #Oxfordshire | #Support | #Fundraising

  • This week, we proudly celebrate Women in Construction Week, recognising the invaluable contributions of the talented women within the Kingerlee family. Currently, 17% of our workforce is female, and we are committed to increasing that number. Our goal is to inspire and encourage more women at the education level to explore rewarding careers in construction. Join us as we hear from Lauren, one of our Assistant Quantity Surveyors, as she shares her journey in the industry and offers valuable advice. #Kingerlee | #Womeninconstruction | #WICW | #Oxfordshire

We are excited to announce that the first phase of the renovations led by the Special Projects team at Thomas House is now complete, and our Main Contracts staff members have moved into their new office space. Thomas House in Langford Locks, Kidlington, has been the home of Kingerlee since 1999, and it was time for our much-loved home to get a well-deserved refresh.    The newly upgraded foyer and office space features a modern, reimagined layout including the main office, a dedicated collaboration area, an open plan kitchen and canteen, meeting rooms and ancillary spaces. One of the meeting rooms is called the ‘THK’ meeting room named after our founder, Thomas Henry Kingerlee. New technology features such as smart televisions and intuitive room control panels have been introduced to allow for an innovative and collaborative working environment.     We are thrilled with the results so far and are looking forward to revealing more as we move onto the second phase of renovations on the first floor.  Special thanks to WWA Studios for their hard work. And a special thanks to the sub-contractors who have enabled this stage of the project to run so seamlessly:   Darke & Taylor Ltd, F.G.Alden, A&Ldecorating, A&D Roofingsolutions, A.W. • Throwback to a project we completed for a private client.    The project comprised the refurbishment and alterations of a beautiful stone farmhouse and barn with construction of a contemporary glazed timber and clad link. A new heating system was installed involving traditional style radiators and underfloor heating using heat pumps which were connected to a geothermal ground source heat extraction system.     Our Kingerlee Joinery team were heavily involved in this project, creating bespoke wardrobes, dresser units and shelving to maximise storage space throughout the property as well as crafting timber window shutters to match the existing period windows of the farmhouse.    We are proud to have completed such a unique project.     #Kingerlee | #Joinery | #Farmhouse | #Construction | #Throwback

  • Our Special Projects team have made tremendous progress in the repairs to the roof of Hoe Bridge School in Surrey.     With help from Cliveden Conservation, two stunning Fresco ceilings have been protected. Both ceilings have had structural steels installed above due to rotten timbers, and a removable platform has been created to allow easy access for future checks of the lathe and occasional maintenance.    The existing roof has been stripped in its entirety and new slates are currently being installed. A lead finish on the dome section of the roof has been installed, which was previously zinc. Steels have been erected in several areas to provide strength to existing timber which has suffered from rot.     A new steel cornice detail has been created around the dome to replace the former failed structure. One of three roof lights have been installed so far, which will give the rooms below plenty of natural light. Finally, various works to the chimneys have been completed, these include repointing, flaunching and decoration as well as replacement of broken pots.     We look forward to sharing more about this project as it draws closer to completion.     #Renovation | #Conservation | #Kingerlee | #Specialprojects

  • We are pleased to share a project update with you from Sand Martins Golf Course in Wokingham. The project has come on a significant way since our previous update, with the site looking to complete in the coming months.     Externally, the access road which will connect the new maintenance building to the golf course is almost fully formed and ready for tarmac. The aggregate storage bays constructed from steel posts and horizontal timber sleepers now complete. New irrigation tanks have been installed giving the ability to store five hundred and seventy thousand litres of water, with one of the tanks including a fully complaint hydrant connection for fire service use.    Second fix MEP works are nearing completion and internal fire doors have been installed and witnessed for Trada certification. Wet areas such as the shower rooms and WC’s have been tiled ready for integrated plumbing system panelling.     Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on this project.  Euro-City Kingsley Roofing RP Carpentry T&K Services   #Kingerlee | #Construction | #Golfcourse | #Projectupdate
