About us
The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King’s College London is Europe’s largest centre for research and education in psychiatry, psychology, and basic and clinical neuroscience. It produces more highly cited outputs (top 1% citations) on psychiatry and mental health than any other centre (SciVal 2021), and on this metric has risen from 16th (2014) to 4th (2021) in the world for highly cited neuroscience outputs. In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF), 90% of research at the IoPPN was deemed ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’ (3* and 4*). World-leading research from the IoPPN has made, and continues to make, an impact on how we understand, prevent and treat mental illness, neurological conditions, and other conditions that affect the brain.

Excited to share some of the nutritional work we have been conducting in Sri Lanka! The paper describes how we developed the first comprehensive Food Composition Database (FCD) for cooked foods in Sri Lanka. The FCD is a free to access comprehensive nutrient database for over 240 commonly consumed food items. The project is part of an ongoing collaboration between Institute for Research and Development Sri Lanka and Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience UK. Great work by Janani Opatha Lasith Dissanayake and Sameeha Jabir and all our brilliant co-authors! https://lnkd.in/exmPePyi

Very excited to share that the first study from my PhD at NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) has been published today by the Lancet Psychiatry! Titled: Exploring the involvement of people with lived experience of mental disorders in co-developing outcome measures: a systematic review The review explored how outcome measures have been co-developed with those with lived experience in the field of mental health, demonstrating co-development is possible and could provide more relevant and meaningful outcomes for clinical practice and research. A huge thank you to my supervisors and co-authors for your guidance and support over the last year with the review Til Wykes Hannah Belcher Imogen Kilcoyne 👉 Read the article here: https://lnkd.in/ejNPzBmK
