Many of our projects are located in London’s West End, an area rich in both historical and geographical significance. Covent Garden is one such location, with over ten Knight Harwood previously completed projects! Today, it is a much-loved destination known for its high-end fashion, beauty, arts, and dining scene. However, its origins date back to the Benedictines of Westminster, who once maintained a kitchen garden there. It later became a thriving flower, fruit, and vegetable market, serving the city for over 300 years. Covent Garden has long been associated with entertainment, but it was in the 18th century that it truly became a cultural hub with the construction of the Theatre Royal on Drury Lane and the Royal Ballet and Opera on Bow Street, built to entertain London’s gentry. Thanks to our friends at Elliott Wood (Historic England) we can share these historic photos of Grainhouse, our project on Drury Lane, in the early 20th Century, and how the five heritage buildings look today as one sensitively transformed commercial space in collaboration with Hines United Kingdom. #loveconstruction #historicbuilding #collaboration

About us
We turn visions into reality. As a main contractor, we construct new buildings, alter, refurbish and remodel existing dilapidated buildings, and fit out interior spaces. We have built a reputation for successfully delivering complex schemes through collaboration with many of the best design teams and clients in the country. The foundation of this reputation is strong long-term relationships combined with an uncompromising commitment to an extremely high quality product. We strive to take ownership of projects and their challenges, becoming the driving force every successful project requires. Our team provides the sustained coordinated effort of communication and cooperation between the large number of diverse organisations involved in a project, as well as the enthusiasm required to make it successful. The majority of our projects are in Central London and the surrounding home counties. They include various new build schemes, heavy and structural refurbishment and fit out projects: • The construction of new commercial office space, often for internationally recognised brands and developers. Our expertise is divided equally across complex refurbishment, new build and pure fit out projects. • Working with recognised brands and organisations to create modern retail space, hotels or leisure facilities such as spas or sporting venues. • Building state of the art education facilities for leading UK schools and education organisations. • The creation of a home of unquestionable standards of quality for private Clients. Our experience in this sector includes examples of both new build and refurbishment schemes in some of the most prestigious locations in London and the home counties. • The construction of multiple dwellings for residential developers, often with high quality services installations and finishes. • Many of our projects are undertaken within buildings which are either listed or of historical interest.

Alex Tarrant was one of the first graduates to join the Knight Harwood graduate training programme over thirteen years ago. Now a Senior Project Manager, he believes that the support provided by the programme and the culture of open communication, specifically being able to ask questions of senior members of the team, helped him to become well rounded in his role and develop the ability to cope with the challenges that construction can sometimes bring up.

Last Tuesday, our team in Mayfair hosted a breakfast for all of the women involved in our special Berkeley Square office scheme. The event was an opportunity for the team to collaborate and share their experiences and journey within the construction industry. It was also lovely to have Alexa, a year 9 student in attendance too, who was on work experience for the day and had the opportunity to learn about the variety of roles available in the construction industry. #inspiringwomen #inspiringyoungpeople #loveconstruction

Nestled in the heart of Marylebone Village, our project on Thayer Street and Marylebone Lane seamlessly blends heritage and contemporary design in collaboration with The Howard de Walden Estate. Featuring a retained and restored façade on Marylebone Lane and a new frontage on Thayer Street created with York handmade brickwork, the development fits in perfectly with the character of the area. Inside, it offers modern Cat A office spaces on the upper floors, with retail units at ground and basement levels. Chapman Architects Elliott Wood ME Engineers Platform Quantem

This week, in celebration of International Women's Day and Women in Construction Week, our team had the pleasure of hosting a series of events to recognise the incredible contributions of women in our industry. On Tuesday, we started with a breakfast to appreciate the talented women working on our luxury commercial project in Mayfair. It was lovely to be joined by Alexa, who was on work experience for the day. On Wednesday, we were joined by ladies from our client team and Daval Construction Ltd., taking part in a bricklaying masterclass—a fantastic way to celebrate the skills and craftsmanship that drive our industry. On Thursday, we took a walking tour through Westminster, reflecting on the women who have shaped history in the local area. #womeninconstructionweek #internationalwomensday #empoweringwomen

Thank you to Hines United Kingdom for sharing this wonderful fly-through of Film House, our project in Soho, showing the building come alive as a high quality workspace. We are very excited to deliver this beautiful design for Hines, a valued repeat client. #loveconstruction #officerefurbishment #repeatclient
Film House aims to provide premium space on a scale rarely seen in Soho, London. Once the heart of London's film industry, this iconic area benefits from exceptional connectivity cultural energy, and some of the city's best restaurants. However, Grade A workspace is in short supply amid a flight to quality in the London office market. Our approach to refurbishing Film House aims to meet this demand while revitalizing a striking Art Deco building. Meticulous design, modern functionality, and first-class tenant amenities combine to create a stunning new headquarters building in one of the city’s most storied neighborhoods. Watch the fly-through below for a first look. #Office #London #RealEstate

We are pleased to share the latest photos of our project with The Hurlingham Club, Fulham. This prestigious private members club was founded in 1869, originally as a pigeon shooting club, and has since been a sought-after destination for sporting and social activities, with guests enjoying the croquet and tennis lawns, botanical gardens and stately Georgian Clubhouse. Our project will revitalise the East Wing, creating a new destination restaurant and finishing kitchen with refurbished event areas including a space that is often at the heart of events at The Hurlingham Club, Palm Court. With its 30-metre-long domed ceiling, Palm Court is an impressive sight despite being in the midst of construction work.

If you have passed through Clapham Junction station recently, you may have caught a glimpse of the wonderful new rooftop pavillion and restored cupola that sit proudly on top of the iconic Arding & Hobbs building, just a stone's throw from the busy travel hub. Our project here with W.RE comprised the sensitive restoration, refurbishment and extension of the iconic Grade II listed building that had served as a department store for many years. Some projects are just so memorable that we can not resist revisiting them periodically. The Royal Academy Schools at the Royal Academy of Arts is no exception. Our project here saw the transformation of the School's space to provide a fully accessible, flexible and high-quality work environment for its staff and students. Through careful restoration and enhancement of the historic building fabric, new facilities and contemporary spaces have been provided. A new studio suite and workshops have been introduced along with a new library, commercial kitchen, canteen facilities and acoustically constructed recording and performance spaces.
