Earlier this year, nine executive leadership team members (ELT) were each paired with a more junior colleague for a six-month reverse mentoring opportunity. Each ELT member spoke to Landsec colleagues to learn more about their personal experiences, which included maternity leave, LGBT+ inclusion, neurodiversity, and ethnic diversity. The initiative is part of both our commitment to building inclusive leaders and supporting the development of diverse talent. As a real estate industry leader, we're committed to prioritising diversity and inclusion at all levels. Here's CEO of Landsec U+I, Mike Hood and Senior Digital Marketing Manager Leeanne (Lil) Couch's experience: 👇

We’ve been part of #Lewisham for 20 years as owners of Lewisham Shopping Centre, and today, we’ve submitted a hybrid planning application to transform the 1970s development in into a vibrant new design 🌳   The 17-acre masterplan—designed by SEW and in consultation with more than 2,500 members of the local community—includes 1,700 new homes, 445 co-living residences, 300 trees established, 3 additional town squares, a roof-top urban meadow to boost biodiversity, and up to 660 student beds.   In Lewisham, we’re already attracting 14m visitors each year, and delivering £3.4m of social value and a total £17.5m of economic contribution since 2019. Today’s #regeneration masterplan looks to generate more sustained, long-term value in the area by further reduced climate impact, more green spaces, elevated innovation hubs and entertainment, and additional housing.   Read more in The London Standard: https://lnkd.in/e5BS5mRi   #MoreThanAPlace

Great that we were able to share the story of Mayfield Park in Lloyds Banking Group's Working with Nature report. The report emphasises that investment in Nature-based solutions is essential for economic growth delivering multiple benefits in urban environments. The creation of Mayfield Park and the uncovering and restoration of the River Medlock, was at the heart of the regeneration of the area designed to alleviate flooding, reduce pressure on the sewage system and re-establish biodiversity. Thanks for contributing our story, Henry Powell and Sam Jarrett. https://lnkd.in/edZj4EUr #LetNatureIn #BuildwellLivewellActwell

We're celebrating the 15th birthday of St David’s Cardiff 🎈   First opening in October 2009, our St David’s development transformed Cardiff into one of the UK’s top shopping destinations with nearly one million square foot of premium retail space.   Today, it’s home to more than 180 independent shops and restaurants—from attracting international brands to championing Welsh independents. And with a £17m investment plan submitted in August to transform unused space into a new city square, we’re committed to growth that supports more people to live, work, and spend time in the vibrant city centre.   This year’s #Landsec80 campaign is showcasing the 80-year impact of our places across the UK. The regeneration of St David’s is one of these historic landmarks, and exemplifies how we’re creating sustainable, long-term value for people, communities, and businesses. For the ninth consecutive year, we’ve achieved a five-star GRESB rating, and remain regional sector leader for our standing investments. This real estate-specific benchmark means that we’re recognised internationally as a leader in creating sustainable places, and can offer a #sustainable best-in-class platform for investments across our portfolio. Once again, we’ve scored 99 for our developments – much above the GRESB average of 86 – and have ranked first in our peer group for standing investments. Our Build Well, Live Well, Act Well framework demonstrates our commitment to industry-leading ESG performance, and ensures that our places are beneficial to our planet, customers, and communities 💚 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/dXfDCmu

We welcome the latest Landsec Futures interns this week, who’ve marked the start of our fourth cohort 👏 Our interns are provided with six months of training and paid employment at one of our places. And for the very first time, we’ve expanded to #Leeds and #Manchester through our charity partners Resurgo and Regeneration Brainery. Providing mentorship and learning for young people from underrepresented backgrounds is vital part of our business’ future. Reflecting the communities we’re a part of and increasing diversity is essential to the places we want to create. Congratulations to Manuella Bushidi, Jenson Ward, and Ella Pitts; we're excited to be working side by side. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eFP-VYC8 #RealEstate #Internships #LandsecFutures
