📢It’s Children's Mental Health Week and we are celebrating the launch of the Children & Young People’s Mental Health & Wellbeing campaign. 💜‘Talk About It: Don’t Hide Your Mind’ is a youth-led approach to children and young people’s mental health from Barnet, powered by the realities and lived experiences of our young people. 🎬A short-film, wider social media content, posters and signposting has been co-created with a local group of 14 - 21 year olds whose insight and decisions have helped reshape Barnet’s mental health support and services, helping to destigmatise the topic and view it through a fresh lens. ✍Written, produced and performed by young Barnet residents and presenter Richie Driss, it follows three characters - Rianna, Kofi and Kalli - as they each work to manage their challenging emotions through a typical day. Each of them ultimately finding solutions by speaking with friends, a trusted adult or pastoral mentor, or through one of the services Barnet provides, such as BICS. 💜 We know mental health is a spectrum. Whether you’re feeling happy, sad, or somewhere in between, we are all somewhere on that spectrum. It’s important to talk about your feelings, to share what you’re thinking & what you are going through - whatever you’re feeling. 👉Watch the film here, catch it at North Finchley Vue Cinema from 12th February for half-term and find out more at https://lnkd.in/eCaDNCkq Special thanks to BREAK COMMS and all the young people who made this happen. #barnetyouth #talkaboutit #supportingyoungpeople #mentalhealthawareness #anxiety #BICS #kooth #normalisementalhealth

In Barnet, children and young people are an integral part of our community and are key to realising the potential of our collective future. The new Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy and represents our commitment to their wellbeing, and to fostering an environment where our children can flourish, equipped with the tools and resources necessary to navigate the challenges that may come with working towards and maintaining positive mental health and wellbeing. Our co-produced Mental Health and Wellbeing Charter is the result of collaborative efforts involving over 200 children and young people. Through extensive consultations, focus groups and surveys we have ensured that their voices are not only heard but also have the power to create meaningful change. See here https://lnkd.in/ed687gmm Thank you to Neil Taylor and Young Barnet Foundation for leading the Charter development.
