WE SUPPORT THE AGENCIES THAT IMPROVE THE LIFE CHANCES OF SINGLE HOMELESS PEOPLE
About us
At the LHF we use our fund to help tackle homelessness. By funding ideas and projects that could not get money from anywhere else, we can help to innovate and challenge the sector. Funding your ideas : You bring the idea, and if we agree it’s an idea that could make a difference, we’ll add the money. There is a simple and unbureaucratic application process Your commitment? To do what you said you’d do and then come back and tell us about it afterwards Our own ideas : Sometimes, we have the ideas and look for people to test them out. At the moment, we are particularly interested in projects that look at health and how we can work more closely within the criminal justice system Mergers and special support : We also support organisations through a transition by providing them with expert consultancy help Publishing statistics We publish annual and quarterly reports breaking down all the important statistics from across all sectors

Housing affordability, availability, and quality are crucial factors that influence homelessness rates and the experiences of those who are homeless. What are the issues? •Rising housing Costs makes it difficult for low-income individuals and families to afford stable housing. •Wages vs. Housing Costs have not risen equally •Significant reduction in the availability of social housing •Lack of housing availability and quality •Supply Shortages: resulting in the lack of new construction of affordable homes •Temporary accommodation provided by local authorities may not always be of high quality, impacting residents' physical and mental health. For 6 months we had a housing officer from Stonewall Housing join us on the Driving for Change busses, providing vital housing advice to all our guests. Partnerships with charities like Stonewall Housing, as well as London Housing Foundation and StreetLink are critical in helping people in their first steps out of homelessness. How can you help? •Engage in Advocacy and Campaigning •Join or Form Advocacy Groups that focus on housing issues or start your own group. •Raise Awareness: Use various platforms, including social media, blogs, and community events, to raise awareness about housing issues and policy gaps. •Lobbying: Directly engage with policymakers to present evidence, share personal stories, and advocate for specific changes. Request meetings, attend public consultations, and participate in parliamentary committees or local council meetings. Day 3 and last day at the London Housing Foundation residential training at Cumberland Lodge Amazing 3 days networking, listening to LHF Directors Nicholas Hardwick @clare miller Eleanor Stringer at the joint seminar chaired by Simon Dow CBE was inspirational and very reflective on what leadership is. Several take aways from the session and at the group work session we deduced many themes hearing the experiences of these leaders who have ploughed through several challenges and experiences Cumberland Lodge is amazing. The staff at the Lodge are professional, courteous and the food is absolutely fantastic Thank you to Becky Rice and her team for a well thought out programme. Thank you to students from cohort 12, Ish, Monju and Pete who shared with us their experiences. Looking forward to working with my seminar group, @Mary Muleny, Ketan Patel @Junior Omo-Osagie

New Rough Sleeping Figures Released 📣 In June the annual figures for people sleeping rough were released. Overall numbers were up, and it remains a pretty bleak picture. In total during the period April-June 2024 outreach teams recorded 4223 individuals sleeping rough in the capital. This is a 29% increase on the total figure for April-June 2023. Of that total: ▶ new rough sleepers account for almost half (46%) of all rough sleepers; ▶ intermittent rough sleepers, those who had been seen occasionally, account for 41% of all those recorded in the period and; ▶ 15% of those recorded during the period had been seen a number of times over a three week period and so were assumed to be living on the streets. 👉🏼 You can read the full CHAIN report https://lnkd.in/dWeqQ9D 🔗 Find out more on our website: https://lnkd.in/g5XFEiYf #LondonChartertoEndRoughSleeping #EndRoughSleeping #London
