⚽️ Football Academy ⚽️ We were delighted to work in partnership with Greenock Juniors 2009s over the weekend, as 20 young people engaged with a residential camp at The National Sports Centre in Largs. An additional 14 young people engaged with various football activities over the weekend and all enjoyed the time spent with our staff, the Juniors coaches and each other. This partnership will be vital as we aim to support the young people in our innovative project, "Beyond the Pitch", helping to educate on mental health and keep the young team on the right pathway, whilst providing high quality, relationship-based football environments. Special mention for local lads Cameron Davis, Ethan Devenney and Jack Carrick for being named the team captains due to their attitude and leadership. Stay tuned for our Football Academy updates throughout the season, particularly through our partner Max Marner as he documents the journey. It was great to spend time with Max over the weekend.

Following our first Board meeting of 2024, we are delighted to announce Kay Gibson and Craig Archdeacon as Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of our charity. Following an interview panel featuring our CEO Chris Paul, former Chairperson Craig Docherty and one of our young members, Logan, the wider Trustee team formally approved the commencement of their roles last night. Man On! has done tremendous work across our community since 2020, going well beyond our original strategic plan. 2025 - 2030 is on our minds, and we believe the strategic leadership from Kay and Craig will be vital on this journey. 🤝

Part of what we do at Man On! Inverclyde is to ask the community what they need from services and co-produce events and groups from their input. A lot of times, people in the community can't leave their surrounding for various reasons. This is why I have created the Community Outreach Programme to make sure those individuals can still access 3rd sector support on their doorstep. If you are local and have the time, pop along for a chat and a cuppa. Open to all😀 #suicideprevention #mentalhealthsupport #communityengagement #wellbeingmatters

Delighted to release our latest podcast episode with Jamie Darroch and Nicky Low of Clydebank Football Club. Jamie’s Dad completed suicide in March of this year and he hopes to be able to share his story to help and inspire others, taking a voluntary role within our bereavement and postvention services. Nicky, a former league-cup winner with Aberdeen Football Club, opens up about his own mental health experiences. He has played a key role in the development of our youth football projects.

Another 2 years funding from The National Lottery Community Fund - our mission continues to drive forward 🤝

View profile for Chris Paul, graphic

Another big moment for Man On! Inverclyde as we embark on a further 2 years with funding from the The National Lottery Community Fund, with £140,000 over the period. We are also celebrating another Awards for All fund to deliver our postvention service, Support After Suicide, with £7,000 to deliver this over the next year. Thanks to all the team of staff & volunteers for their hard work over the last 2 years, it has been hugely appreciated having you part of the journey! Despite the positive news around gaining new funding, the world of income generation and grants continues to be a difficult one to navigate. Our first Improving Lives Grant was worth £200,000 over the 2 years for example, so despite being delighted with the news, it comes in amongst a challenging landscape for the sector having to adjust their budgets to still deliver at high levels. Despite this, we now look forward to evolving our work and supporting people at deeper levels, shining a light on experiences and making a real difference to our community and beyond.

Brilliant to spread the word of Man On! across the country 🗣️

Taking the journey of Man On! Inverclyde on the road to Dunfermline today, presenting at the Scottish Guidance Association Annual Conference. Always a pleasure to discuss our work, particularly the areas of partnership like the strong one we have developed with Port Glasgow High School. Honour to be amongst so many dedicated education professionals today, all giving up their time to focus on how to improve the lives of young people across the country. Great to hear from Graeme Young and the work of PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide in Scotland, developing really well and brilliant to see! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 #SuicidePrevention #Wellbeing #Partnership #Education
