Green light for the development of nine one and two-bedroom apartments, each featuring open plan layouts and access to a shared rooftop terrace in Birmingham! 🟢 Sachin Parmar said: “Like many growing cities, Birmingham faces a challenge in meeting housing demand, particularly for smaller, more affordable units that suit first-time buyers, young professionals and downsizers. By building upwards, this development not only maximises space but also aligns with the city’s ambitions for urban regeneration." Our team also included Hannah Hamilton-Rutter, heritage director, who conducted a heritage impact assessment as part of the application, and Simon Macklen, head of socio-economics, who provided a local housing needs assessment. https://lnkd.in/e_ndRxUb #Planning #BirminghamDevelopment #Heritage #UKHousing

Planning director, Roland Brass has been working with the Land, Planning and Development Federation to share invaluable insights on the initial impact of grey belt policy within the planning system. They have examined how grey belt policy has influenced both decision-making and plan-making, breaking down their findings in the analysis below. Our grey belt decision tracker also includes a comprehensive list of all decisions made so far: https://lnkd.in/etNYku-6 If you need help determining whether your land falls within the grey belt, get in touch with our team today. #Planning #GreyBelt #GreenBelt #HousingUK #NPPF
What impact is grey belt policy having? The LPDF have been working in partnership with Marrons looking at the early impacts of grey belt policy on both decision-taking and plan-making. This summary report provides an initial overview of the impacts covering the period since the publication of the NPPF on 12th December 2024 up until 3rd March 2025. Whilst this is only a short period of time, what is clear is that the introduction of grey belt policy has had a positive affect on the number of allowed planning appeals for residential development in the Green Belt. With the updated PPG on the Green Belt published recently, this should provide a greater level of clarity for decision makers and hopefully result in a greater positive impact from this significant new policy. The LPDF and Marrons are keen to see how decisions and local plans continue to be impacted by this policy and as such, we will be undertaking further, more detailed analysis to provide greater insight over the coming months. In the meantime Marrons, have also started a grey belt decisions tracker which may be of interest. #greybelt #greenbelt #housing #HousingCrisis #Marrons #LPDF

We’ve gained planning permission and listed building consent in two of London's finest conservation areas and exclusive post codes: 🛍️ New retail store in a Grade II listed department store on Kensington High Street. 🏚️ Enhancements to the frontage of a Grade I townhouse in Belgrave Square. Adam Partington, partner in our heritage team said: “We've had a very promising start to the year with permissions across the board, including a brace in Kensington and Westminster Boroughs. Two very different cases and each had their own particular challenges, bringing occupancy back to the high street on on hand whilst making some judicious changes to the front of one of Belgravia's finest residential townhouses on the other. “Good communication with council offers was important, especially where we inherited a history of a previous refusal. Simple changes in design based around the strengths of each building meant little to no comprise for our clients, who now have a permission in hand. The fact that we have planning and heritage services siting side by side in-house is an advantage." Brixie Payne Julie Mc Laughlin #Heritage #Planning #LondonDevelopment
