There are currently 597,000 people waiting for gynaecology appointments with the NHS. That's triple the amount in 2014. This crisis is disproportionately affecting black patients and people in deprived areas. The NHS is struggling. With some patients waiting over 18 weeks for an appointment and limited capacity to deliver services, tackling the elective care backlog takes a lot of work.
