Last Thursday, MilUX joined 12 other employers from Wiltshire to receive the Silver Award from the Employer Recognition Scheme. Our CEO Matt Odell and Principal Consultant Isabella Marriott, both serving Reservists, attended the presentation and received the award from Mrs Sarah Rose Troughton, the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire. Thank you to the team from Wessex RFCA for hosting a great event, and congratulations to all the Reservists, Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers and Cadets who received various other honours and awards at the event. The Silver Award recognises those employers who actively demonstrate support made in their Armed Forces Covenant, and employ at least one member of the Armed Forces Community, be that a Reservist, Cadet Forces Adult Volunteer, Service Leaver or military spouse.

We will be at the DVD Event on Thursday, 19th September. Supporting DVD2024's aim of "Working together to pull the future into the present and delivering a more Modern, more Lethal and more Productive Army", we are looking to create new partnerships and share our extensive experience in working with the British Army's end users. For the last four months, MilUX has been leading the user research and business analysis for Land SOF’s Quicksilver initiative. Partnering with CDW UK and 2iC Limited to design a cutting-edge, adaptable Staff Working Environment (SWE) for the British Army's Land Special Operations. We're leveraging our deep military expertise and user-centred design principles to understand the unique needs of the RANGERs operating in high-pressure environments. Our cross-industry multidisciplinary team is conducting in-depth interviews, workshops, and observational studies to uncover insights that will shape the future of tactical headquarters. Our Approach: - Focus: By focusing on the RANGER users and their needs, we can confidently move into development, knowing we are solving the right problems. - Flow: Through the application of Lean and Agile practices we are working to create a system to continuously flow value to the RANGERs. - Feedback: We have established feedback loops to improve communication, identify areas for improvement, and leverage delivery data to support their decision-making. A fantastic opportunity for the BattleLab Community! “The Quicksilver team is currently working on an initiative to deliver a rapidly deployable HQ that is mobile, scalable, and accreditable for the Land Special Operations Forces (LSOF). The team are embedded with a RANGER unit, conducting continuous design and delivery and are interested in talking to businesses that make the following products (including but not limited to): - Deployable shelters, including tents and temporary structures - Power and light (mobile, organic). - Environmental controls (heat and cooling) - Interior fit-out (tables, chairs, bird tables/planning area, divider screens) - Vehicle integration/docking. - Visualisation equipment (electronic screens) - LAN and communications (Tactical and Operations) systems, VTC and telephony. We are really pleased to announce our recent partnership with CDW UK and 2iC Limited to support the British Army's Land Special Operations Force. Our team have already co-located with the users and run a number of research events and are now looking forward to rapidly iterating on a physical build over the next couple of weeks. We are also applying our extensive knowledge of Lean Portfolio Management and the Kanban Method to visualise the development value stream and capture flow metrics in order to support ongoing continuous development and give LSOF the agility they need. We are celebrating our 5th year in business this week! The timing of this milestone could not be better as we've also welcomed our 5th employee and started our first multi-year contract with a British Army customer, helping a specialist user solve their operational problems.

The Systems Thinking Approach to Implementing Kanban (STATIK) is a great way to design an operating model and #kanban system. Over the past two days, our team has been building a system to help us manage service delivery to a new customer. Through this collaborative approach, we have built our workflows and policies in our favourite tool, Businessmap, and created the feedback loops required to deliver at pace. As we start our delivery, we will continue to review the metrics and evolve the system to ensure we remain fit for purpose.
