Criminals are using social media to advertise services such as smuggling, false documents, and assistance with fraudulent visa applications, with end-to-end encrypted platforms exploited to avoid detection. WARNING: This post contains references to child sexual abuse. Two brothers who raped vulnerable girls 18 years ago have been jailed for 31 years, following an NCA investigation. Mark Evans, 37, and Robert Evans, 40, abused children in Rotherham over a two-year period starting in 2006. The men, aged 18 and 21 around the time, intimidated girls and plied them with drugs and alcohol before luring them to locations where they attacked them. Mark and Robert were found guilty of a number of sexual offences, including rape, on 4 December and today were sentenced to 14 and 17 years’ imprisonment respectively for their crimes. These brave women have been determined to receive justice and the NCA has matched their resolve, ensuring the Evans brothers have been held to account. Adults can report sexual abuse suffered as a child by calling police on 101, or reporting it in person at a police station. FULL STORY ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ejmT-ffn

2024 has seen a rise in harmful online networks consisting of predominantly teenage boys, often known as Com networks (short for Community). Reports increased six-fold in the UK from 2022 to 2024, with millions of messages now being sent online relating to sexual and physical abuse. The NCA is encouraging parents and carers to have regular conversations with their child about what they do online, and ensure they know they have your support should they need it. The National Crime Agency has warned of a “deeply concerning” trend of online networks of predominantly teenage boys, dedicated to inflicting harm and committing a range of criminality. We’re calling on everyone - from law enforcement, to parents and carers, education professionals, and industry - to play their part in reducing the risk from “sadistic and violent online gangs”. The warning comes as the NCA launches its National Strategic Assessment (NSA), an annual report that outlines the serious and organised crime threats facing the UK. These online forums or communities – or “Com networks” – see offenders collaborate or compete to cause harm across a broad spectrum of criminality - both on and offline - including cyber, fraud, extremism, serious violence, and child sexual abuse. Although adults are involved in these online communities, of particular concern is that offenders are predominantly teenage boys that often share sadistic and misogynistic material, and have been seen to target those their own age or younger. Three people have been arrested after a woman and a six-year-old child were smuggled into the UK in a lorry. The trio were detained by NCA officers after a lorry arrived on a ferry from Hook of Holland into the port of Killingholme in North Lincolnshire. It was searched by Border Force, who were working with the NCA, and the woman and child, both Albanian nationals, were found concealed in the cab. The lorry driver and two other men, suspected of being on their way to meet the lorry, were arrested and our investigation continues. Tackling organised immigration crime remains a top priority for the NCA. FULL STORY ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eU68eH-d

Two men have been arrested as part of an NCA investigation into the smuggling of around 30 kilos of cocaine into an Essex airfield. The pair were detained after UK Home Office Border Force officers met a plane arriving into North Weald airfield near Epping. It had flown in from northern France. Following a search, packages of cocaine were found underneath a seat on the aircraft, and an investigation was launched by the NCA. The men are now in custody and will be questioned by NCA investigators. Working with colleagues at Border Force we are determined to do all we can to protect the public and disrupt the criminal networks involved in bringing narcotics into the UK.
